Texas Islamic Group Busted By Feds

(CBS) The leader of an Islamic militant group, his wife, and five brothers who work at a Texas computer firm were indicted on charges of trafficking with terrorist states Libya and Syria, Attorney General John Ashcroft announced Wednesday.

"We will pursue the financiers of terror as aggressively as we pursue the thugs who do their dirty work," Ashcroft said at the Justice Department.

Earlier, four of the brothers were arrested in Texas by federal anti-terrorism agents. The fifth brother already was in custody. The brothers worked at Infocom, a computer company in Richardson, Texas, a Dallas suburb.

The indictments also named Mousa Abu Marzook, a senior Hamas leader, and his wife, both believed to be in the Middle East. Ashcroft said Marzook and his wife were accused of conspiring to violate U.S. laws that prohibit dealing in terrorist funds.

The brothers arrested included Infocom vice president, Ghassan Elashi, 48, also identified as a director of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. The foundation was shut down in December 2001 after the Treasury Department accused the self-described charity of being a front for the Palestinian militant group Hamas and seized its assets.

The other brothers arrested were identified as Bayan Elashi, 47, Basman Elashi and Hazim Elashi, 41. The fifth brother, Ihsan Elashi, is in custody on charges of illegally exporting computer goods to the Middle East.

All five brothers were charged with selling computers and computer parts to Libya and Syria.

The way these vermin congregate it won't be surprising to have the Mooselim call to prayer echoing over Dallas in the future. Just ask the good sheep of Michigan how that works.

I live in DFW and I remember when the feds raided their shop awhile ago. I remember all kinds TV news and newspaper people claiming that it was racial profiling, it was bull, and it was a result of the Patriot Act. Blah, Blah.

I look forward to them getting a Texas jury.

This isn't happy-making news. My daughter and her husband live in Richardson. As reported, others were arrested at Infocom several years ago. And yes, there were people who carried on about their civil liberties. As far as I'm concerned, if you are an enemy of our country you don't deserve any "rights." Can you imagine another country worrying about such nonsense? Didn't think so...

Actually, it's not so much 'what' they are doing in Texas - they've vowed to become our 5th column in every state and all major urban areas and also to become ubiquitous in rural areas as well. (Anyone else follow the WSJ's extensive writing on the 5th column danger written during the mid-90's?) I think these criminals are the tip of the iceberg, for every one, several others lurk, hiding effectively among 'regular' citizens.

I think even more telling is that Texans, aided by the Feds, effectively rooted them out and prosecuted them. A lesson to us all.

"...indicted on charges of trafficking with terrorist states Libya and Syria...."

Now just a minute. Wasn't J 'efin sKerry in the Commonwealth today stating that he would do more than Bush to fight terrorism? Is Deep-Kiss sKerry proposing imprisoning all Islamics that are within the US? I would consider voting for him if he was.

Sorry, anything short is just more of the same from Sperm Cell sKerry.

Well, not quite so.

It was thanks to the writer of this book

Terrorist Hunter

She was the early researcher into all this, and was way ahead of the US agencies in tracking down not only HLF, but other groups. We can thank this persistent woman who submitted her work to the govt. and risked her life on many occasions.
