IMMEDIATE FREEPER HELP NEEDED FOR KERRY PROJECT
phone call | 7-27-04 | DFU

Posted on 07/27/2004 10:48:28 AM PDT by doug from upland

FReepers, I have been asked to attend a meeting tomorrow to discuss a JOHN KERRY project that would be put together very quickly and come into play for this election cycle. The guys with the wallets will be there.

I can't tell you exactly what it is or if it is going to happen for sure. To get prepared for the meeting, I need immediate research help. Please put links on this thread about areas in which John Kerry can be attacked. Please label the link to tell me what it is. Certainly, an example of his statements voting to authorize use of force would be helpful. A link to his photo and story in a place of honor in the commie Vietnam museum would be helpful.

Please give me specific links. I need to do this research very quickly and get as much done today as possible so that it will be a productive meeting.

Again, I don't know that it will come to fruition, but I have told them I will drop everything else (except Reagan library trip) to be a part of the project.

Thanks for your help.

Maybe a FReeper who is paying for that can share it?

Doug Doug Doug! Wouldn't that be sorta like stealing cable?

Think of it as an investment.(Only $25 per year, I think.)
Good Luck! Keep us posted on your project.

THE WARNING KERRY IGNORED
By PAUL SPERRY | NY POST

March 15, 2004 -- Sen. John Kerry boasts how he "sounded the alarm on terrorism years before 9/ 11," referring to his 1997 book "The New War." Too bad he didn't blast it when it really counted - four months before the hijackings, when he was hand-delivered evidence of serious security breaches at Logan International Airport, with specific warnings that terrorists could exploit them.

Former FAA security officials say the Massachusetts senator had the power to prevent at least the Boston hijackings and save the World Trade Center and thousands of lives, yet he failed to take effective action after they gave him a prophetic warning that his state's main airport was vulnerable to multiple hijackings.

"He just did the Pontius Pilate thing and passed the buck" on back through the federal bureaucracy, said Brian Sullivan, a retired FAA special agent from the Boston area who in May 2001 personally warned Kerry that Logan was ripe for a "jihad" suicide operation possibly involving "a coordinated attack."

Rewind to May 6, 2001. That night, a Boston TV station (Fox-25) aired reporter Deborah Sherman's story on an undercover investigation at Logan that Sullivan and another retired agent helped set up. In nine of 10 tries, a crew got knives and other weapons through security checkpoints - including the very ones the 9/11 hijackers would later exploit.

The next day, Sullivan fired off a two-page letter to Kerry highlighting the systemic failures.

"With the concept of jihad, do you think it would be difficult for a determined terrorist to get on a plane and destroy himself and all other passengers?" he warned. "Think what the result would be of a coordinated attack which took down several domestic flights on the same day. With our current screening, this is more than possible. It is almost likely." The toll from such an attack would be economic, as well as human, he predicted with chilling accuracy.

Sullivan followed up by having the undercover videotape hand-delivered to Kerry's office.

More than 11 weeks later, Kerry finally replied to his well-informed and anxious constituent. "I have forwarded your tape to the Department of Transportation's Office of Inspector General [DOT OIG]," he said in a brief July 24, 2001, letter, a copy of which I've obtained.

Yet Sullivan had made it clear in his letter that going to his old agency was a dead end. He and other agents had complained about security lapses for years and got nowhere. "The DOT OIG has become an ineffective overseer of the FAA," he told Kerry. Sullivan suggested he show the tape to peers on committees with FAA oversight. He even volunteered to testify before them.

But he never heard from Kerry again.

At that point, Steve Elson, the other agent who'd teamed up on the TV sting, decided to take a crack at the junior senator.

A fiery ex-Navy Seal, Elson spent three years as part of an elite FAA unit called the Red Team, which did covert testing of airport security across the country, before retiring as a field agent in Houston. He offered to fly to Washington at his own expense to give Kerry a document-backed presentation about the "facade of security" at Logan and other major airports.

But a Kerry aide said not to bother. "You're not a constituent," Elson was told just a few weeks before the hijackings. He went ballistic, warning that if Kerry didn't act soon he'd risk the lives of planeloads of his actual constituents. That warning now looks like prophecy: At least 82 Kerry constituents were murdered aboard American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175.

"Enhanced security would have prevented the hijackings, virtually without question," Elson now insists. If nothing else, it might have discouraged ringleader Mohamed Atta, who monitored security procedures at Logan weeks before the hijackings.

Yet the warnings apparently did stick in Kerry's mind: In the days after 9/11, Kerry told the Boston Globe that he'd triggered an undercover probe of Logan security by the General Accounting Office in June 2001.

But he wrote Sullivan no such thing in his July letter, stating only that he passed his warning and tape on to Transportation, not GAO. And GAO, though it is the investigative arm of Congress, didn't seem to know what the senator was talking about. The agency had tested security at two airports before 9/11, but neither one was Logan. And Kerry confessed he didn't know the outcome of the probe he says he triggered.

Some follow-up, senator.

Sullivan and Elson, joined by aviation-security experts David Forbes and Andrew Thomas, want to see Kerry hauled before the 9/11 Commission to answer questions about what he knew about Logan's lapses, and specifically what he did about them, before that fateful day. It's a reasonable request - especially since Kerry has complained that President Bush will only give the panel an hour of his time.

Where was Kerry's sense of urgency? Where was his leadership? These are fair questions to ask of someone vying for Bush's job.

"We don't have to wait for a tragedy to occur to act," Sullivan urged Kerry in his letter. But tragically, that's exactly what happened - at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, and on both sides of the aisle.

Paul Sperry is a Washington investigative reporter and author of "Crude Politics."

If it's not here, I need something about the relationship of Kerry to Sandy Berger and Joe Wilson. I know that things were recently removed from the Kerry website.

The Washington Times
July 27, 2004
Editorial
Teresa's nondisclosure

How many faltering campaigns must Teresa Heinz Kerry underwrite for husband John Kerry before voters are entitled to see her tax returns?

In 1996, the heiress, who married Mr. Kerry the year before, funneled nearly $2 million in a loan to her husband's tightly fought Senate re-election campaign. The last-minute cash infusion almost certainly meant the difference in Mr. Kerry's narrow, 52 percent victory.

Late last year, when Mr. Kerry's faltering campaign was on life-support after the party's donor base abandoned him en masse, Mrs. Heinz Kerry's wealth rescued him again. The flight was so pronounced that the Massachusetts Democrat raised less than $750,000 per month during the fourth quarter, as Howard Dean raked in more than $30 million during the second half of 2003. In the face of the Dean campaign roaring ahead on the eve of Iowa's caucuses and New Hampshire's primary in January, Mr. Kerry needed to raise the most money possible by mortgaging his half share of the Boston mansion he jointly owned with his wife, whose liquid assets were used, according to the New York Times, to purchase the house initially.

If Mr. Kerry wanted to capitalize on the decades-long relationship his wife and the Heinz family had with the Pittsburgh-based Mellon Bank financial conglomerate, he would naturally be drawn to Mellon's local subsidiary, the Mellon Bank of New England. Last year, Boston's Assessing Department placed a $6.6 million value on the Kerrys' Beacon Hill townhouse. Mortgaging half of it at that assessment would have yielded only $3.3 million for Mr. Kerry's desperate campaign, or less than two-thirds what the front-running Mr. Dean easily raised each month. Fortunately for Mr. Kerry, Mellon Bank nearly doubled the house's assessed value to $12.8 million. That enabled the financially desperate Mr. Kerry to extract a $6.4 million mortgage from the house his wife purchased. It would be enough to help him through the New Hampshire primary a month later, after which his momentum in the Democratic primaries was unstoppable.

In recent decades, voters have rightly expected the presidential and vice presidential nominees to disclose their tax returns, including the tax returns of their spouses, if they were filed separately. Indeed, there is precedent. Twenty years ago, John Zaccaro, husband of Democratic vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro, yielded to public pressure and disclosed his separately filed income-tax returns. Prior and subsequent to Mr. Zaccaro's financial disclosures, there was no indication that his personal wealth had been used to regularly resurrect his wife's political career.

Today, why should the tax returns of Mr. Kerry's wealthy wife remain under wraps, particularly since he has clearly exploited his wife's wealth for his political advantage?

Doug, I'm not sure if this is on target but I really find it amusing that Kerry yanked from his campaign website his foreign policy speech regarding aviation and port security on the day the Berger story broke and then yanked the link to Joe Wilson shortly after he was outed as a fraud

yes, and many sites including free republic have decided to preserve the evidence.....

From Reason Magazine (very long, detailed article)

John Kerry's Monstrous Record on Civil Liberties The Man from Beacon Hill's "New War" on the Constitution

For John Kerry, the specter of Attorney General John Ashcroft trashing Americans' civil liberties has been a useful campaign prop. In campaign stops, Kerry has promised to "end the era of John Ashcroft and renew our faith in the Constitution." In a Kerry administration, he promised the liberal group MoveOn in June 2003, "there will be no John Ashcroft trampling on the Bill of Rights." In his 2004 campaign book, A Call to Service, Kerry accuses Ashcroft and the Bush administration of "relying far too much on extraordinary police powers."

"What Cardinal or Bishop might talk to us about Kerry and Communion?"

Don't waste your time with that, seriously. They've said all they're going to say. Only 6 or so have spoken in complete union w Church. Several top level people have told us the hierarchy is fairly satisfied w itself and is done screwing up this election. IMO they are finished confusing the hell out of the flock and will now pray that Kerry wins. IMO--the majority of Catholic Bishops are liberal democrats who buy the lies of government charity/handouts. They don't care about abortion relative to charity/handouts.

This has several links on Kerry abortion Bishops Communion http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1173778/posts

Thank you all for your help. I think today's 4-hour meeting was productive and I think it looks like we will be going forward. I am going to need some more help and will put up a separate thread. That thread will ask for specific links regarding those areas that support the attack on Iraq --- weapons found, intelligence reports, stories about yellowcake and Niger, etc.
