KERRY SHOVES BACK (And Poses For Ridiculous Photo-Kerry's Dukakis Moment)
New York Post ^ | 7/27/04 | STEFAN C. FRIEDMAN

[snip]

The famously off-the-cuff Heinz Kerry is scheduled to address the delegates tonight. At the Kennedy Center, her husband violated the cardinal rule of politics — getting his picture taken in a ridiculous outfit.

Visiting the space shuttle Discovery, Kerry donned dust-free overalls that made him resemble the sperm cells in Woody Allen's "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid To Ask)."

Republican operatives issued a press release featuring the photo and its predecessor — the famous shot of 1988 Democratic nominee Mike Dukakis wearing an ill-fitting tank helmet.

"It's the picture worth a thousand words," said a GOP strategist as he chortled over the photo of Kerry.

But Democrats were not concerned.

"The brilliant Republicans who put George Bush in a flight suit to strut around an aircraft carrier won't get very far giving advice to NASA about the kinds of coveralls to wear," said Kerry campaign spokesman David Wade.

OKAY now, Candidate Kooky Kerry goes to visit the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Does he have a plan to fly Space Shuttles again or is this merely a trip through a museum?

Space shuttles are grounded now after the last disastrous reentry.

A bunch of PR signifying nothing.

"... George Bush in a flight suit ..."

Huh? Women are still swooning over that. Photo-Op? I don't care if it was Photo-Shop - hubba, hubba.

Do these people actually exist on the same planet with us? The last thing this spokesman should have done is remind people of the flight suit pics - geez.

That's pretty good, I have to admit. However, I maintain that Kerry's "Dukakis Moment" was when he said in the South Carolina Debate that the threat of terrorism was greatly exaggerated. I think the release of the 9/11 report makes this a great time to remind the electorate of this monumentally stupid statement.

All this week on THE ALPHABET NETWORKS, a very special tele-dramodey...
"Kerry: The Candidate In The Plastic Bubble"

Synopsis: A billionaire gigolo traitor seals himself in a plastic bubble so as his words and actions do not harm his delicate chances at winning the 2004 Presidential election.

I saw that clip of him throwing out the ball at the sox-Yankee game and I couldn`t believe it. I think my 90 year old Grandmother could throw further and harder than that. And was that a military guy catching it (or trying to?)? Very symbolic I thought. A wet noodle to lead our military. NOT!

I am just listening to Gebhardt on Fox and Friends say that the Dem's have never been so united....sure the are Dick... Mamma Boxer was on before him spinning the company bs....about Kerry supporting the space program....sure.....but what really is significant is that they are trying to overcome Kerry being a phony and they put out pic's of the dork removing all doubt about being a phony dufoos... What it really proves is that leftest elites really are out of touch with the rest of us. Viva la Bush!!

Dukakis looked positively presidential compared to this.

Still, Dukakis in the tank was more damaging. He was being criticized for being anti-military and it was a blatant attempt at a photo op to repair the damage and it backfired miserably. Kerry originally wasn't trying to do anything specific. But the aide who compared it to Bush in the flightsuit should be fired yesterday.

No uniform--a clean-room suit, a flight suit, a Savile Row suit, or a general's uniform--is inherently ridiculous. It's a question of who is wearing it and whether they know what they're doing while they wear it. Clearly, Kerry and Dukakis do not know what they're doing, which is what makes them figures of fun. George Bush knows what he's doing when he dons a pair of western boots and picks up a chain saw, or puts on a flight suit and pilots a jet fighter, so he is not ridiculous, but manly and impressive. Looking at him, one has no doubts about his manhood. There's the difference. It's not an insult to the clean-room suit but to Kerry.
