The last few months I've seen an increasing trend for FReepers to start going for each others jugular. Sometimes we forget (I've certainly done it myself) that in the grand scheme of things, we are on the same team. We may disagree on priorities or how far we are willing to go, but we have enough enemy in the left without creating more amongst ourselves. We can disagree but be civil to each other. We can debate nuance, but not believe that our personal positions are more important than the health of the whole. Let's argue vigorously but remind ourselves the guy whose trachia we are ripping out today may be sitting next to us in a foxhole tommorrow.
I'm going to propose that we all make a new start. Let's put all past differences behind us and resolve to band together and fight the good fight, the elimination of liberalism as a significant culturual influence in America...and see that to its end in our lifetimes.
If you agree, please post your thoughts and ping your lists and your friends to this thread.
I have committed the sin of name calling.
I have questioned the sincerity of others.
I have questioned the intelligence of others.
I have questioned the biological legitimacy of others.
I have look at bad pictures that will make me go blind.
What is my penance?
Something we can all agree on. Libertarian, Constitution Party. Or hardcore "Bush is the second, or third, coming of the Christ" GOP'er.
It's never safe to lie.
Fair 'nuff, that was sarcastic and unfair to charge BushBackers with deifying the POTUS.
"God forbid someone supports one of the candidates that can actually win. We all know that Bush isn't perfect, and the world isn't perfect, either, but Bush is 1000 times better than Kerry, that is a given. And just because someone supports a candidate doesn't mean they see that person as a a "god"."
Alright then...but I've been very good about not labeling Dubyuh's supporters as "BushBOTS" or the like and have refrained from chastising folks for supporting Dubyuh. Despite my vote being up fer grabs at the moment, I have not belittled folks who support Bush becuz the "He's the best potential Commander-in-Chief in the race" argument is sound and defensible. Usually where I get a bit frustrated is when folks slander me for insisting that we urge Dubyuh to move to the Right on domestic spending. Bush should not be above Constructive Criticism, imho, as I sincerely believe his second term can be much more successful than his first (which I agree has been quite successful on many fronts) if his supporters rally around his moves to the Right and if we let him know our displeasure when he's drifted too far to the Left.
If those of us on the Right all give Dubyuh our Unconditional Support, who can blame Bush/Rove for writing off our concerns and catering to the Milquetoast Moderate portion of the electorate? My critiques of Dubyuh have always been intended to be Constructive.

I'd like to clear the air about why I can't respect conservativism as much as I'd like to.
When you look at the good bits of social conservativism - personal responsibility, individuality - it looks a lot better than liberalism. Yet both ideologies have their streak of social control through legislation as their answer.
Liberals may seem to want everything to be "okay", but they use the courts to suppress behavior they don't like. The same goes for conservatives. It all hinges on their goals and personal belief systems.
Personally, I want laws to exist. I just wonder if we need so many of them. I don't want the right to murder, rape, burn down buildings, steal anything, or be a Congressman; therefore, anarchy isn't my goal.
The post wasn't to you, it was to MeekOneGOP. But, if it makes you "feel" better... look now.;)
Gimme a half-dozen "Hail_Dubyuh's" and try to sin no more...MUD
I ain't got one still. :o(

HEY! You opus welcher. What are you doing here? See if I -ever- post to you again.
I mean it.
Glad to help out on your question. Pat is an America fist, pro-life, pro-American jobs, anti-illegal immigration, anti-troops-for-foreign-wars, truth telling, conservative.
