Eating our own...Time to make a new start in Free Republic.

The last few months I've seen an increasing trend for FReepers to start going for each others jugular. Sometimes we forget (I've certainly done it myself) that in the grand scheme of things, we are on the same team. We may disagree on priorities or how far we are willing to go, but we have enough enemy in the left without creating more amongst ourselves. We can disagree but be civil to each other. We can debate nuance, but not believe that our personal positions are more important than the health of the whole. Let's argue vigorously but remind ourselves the guy whose trachia we are ripping out today may be sitting next to us in a foxhole tommorrow.
I'm going to propose that we all make a new start. Let's put all past differences behind us and resolve to band together and fight the good fight, the elimination of liberalism as a significant culturual influence in America...and see that to its end in our lifetimes.
If you agree, please post your thoughts and ping your lists and your friends to this thread.

<< when I think of Hillary, I think of a word that rhymes with "stunt". >>
Why that's plain bloody silly! ;)
You must be one of those "libertine-posing-as" libertarians.
[Everyone else knows that "rhymes with stunts" are useful!]
Talking about which:
Q: What's the difference between a policeman's night-stick and a trapeze artist?
A: A trapeze artist does cunning stunts!

Something I've never understood: if it truly is my ball, what's wrong with me taking it and going home?

I've certainly offended someone, I'm sure. Not intentionally you see, but hey we FReepers are an opinionated lot.
So butch up, Sally and get over it! Life is full of rough and tumble S.O.B.s that don't give a fig if you agree with them or not. You either stand up for what you believe and get on with what you have to do or you crawl up in the corner and suck on your thumb.
If some are so thin-skinned that they can't see "the big picture" and realize that their real enemies won't even bother insulting them as they destroy their life, wealth, family, property, country, etc., then they have bigger problems than we can help them with.
That said, we should strive to be civil among ourselves (on and off of FR) and even to our real and perceived enemies. Let the contrast of their words and actions show others why we really are better than they are.

but hey Tipper wasn't wearing a bra, so I'm sure there will be more talk about her then him *L*What channel were you watching perchance? I happend to have my set on C-SPAN during the speech, and they had a tight shot of Tipper's mug when I saw her. Couldn't see anything below the neck, which might explain the tight shot.

"are you French or Republican?" I know it sounds simplistic, but try it. People will go to great lengths to avoid being lumped in with the French. All's fair...
My Mother has a friend who's a sweet little old lady who always votes Dem because she's scared to death 'they' are going to steal her SS. During the week of the Reagan funeral, she told Mother how much she adored Reagan. I suggested Mother ask her if she thought Reagan would vote for Kerry...she did, and the woman was horrified. "Oh my goodness, NO". Mother (I've trained her well) said 'well, then why would you?'

Hey, you don't know that she was hooker.
Maybe his wife just tarted herself up 'cause it was their anniversary.
You ever think of that?
