Eating our own...Time to make a new start in Free Republic.

The last few months I've seen an increasing trend for FReepers to start going for each others jugular. Sometimes we forget (I've certainly done it myself) that in the grand scheme of things, we are on the same team. We may disagree on priorities or how far we are willing to go, but we have enough enemy in the left without creating more amongst ourselves. We can disagree but be civil to each other. We can debate nuance, but not believe that our personal positions are more important than the health of the whole. Let's argue vigorously but remind ourselves the guy whose trachia we are ripping out today may be sitting next to us in a foxhole tommorrow.
I'm going to propose that we all make a new start. Let's put all past differences behind us and resolve to band together and fight the good fight, the elimination of liberalism as a significant culturual influence in America...and see that to its end in our lifetimes.
If you agree, please post your thoughts and ping your lists and your friends to this thread.

Sure, and the Snopes thread? BTW, since there are multiple allegations of Kerry stiffing wait staff, isn't that something that:
1 - the mainstream media will ignore, and
2 - folks that are conservative might like to investigate?
Or is "news" restricted to the AP and UPI? N.B. The most recent Kerry tip stiffing allegation was JUNE of this year. If that isn't news, I really don't know what is.

OK, this is already late in the thread, but it needs to be said. Manners are a traditional conservative value. Our Christian faith tells us that "if any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain", James 1:25-27, and "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile", 1 Peter 3:9-11.
Whether we're discussing Edmund Burke, John Adams, William Buckley, Russell Kirk, Richard M Weaver, or Ronald W Reagan, manners have been at the core of decency among conservatives.
Bob J, you're just buying in to Reagan's 11th commandment!

I thought it was a picture of John Kerry baptising (sacred) cows.

Thanks for the ping, MeekOneGop - we have an election to win, and I fear victory will not be easily won. We need to unite until November 2+.

Could it have been pulled because it was a duplicate thread?

Bob J had no idea what he was doing starting this thread. Did he think we were going to behave? :)

It was in breaking news, and that's why the AM pulled it.
