ABC news has a story up about an interview with Teresa Heinz-Kerry from 1976 (when she was married to a Republican Senator). In the interview, Heinz-Kerry says she doesn't trust Ted Kennedy and the Democratic political machine is "putrid."
"In the Jan. 13, 1976, interview with the Boston Herald American (now the Boston Herald), Heinz Kerry said she didn't trust President Richard Nixon but added, 'Ted Kennedy I don't trust either.'
She went on to say that she knew 'some couples who stay together only for politics. If Ted Kennedy holds on to that marriage just for the Catholic vote, as some people say he does, then I think he's a perfect bastard.'
Kennedy's 22-year marriage to Joan Kennedy ended in 1981. He married Victoria Reggie in 1992.
... In the Boston Herald American interview, conducted by now-Washington Post reporter Myra MacPherson, Heinz Kerry's animus was not limited to Kennedy. The story also notes that in the interview, '[S]he also attacked machine politics "The Democratic machine in this country is putrid."'
... [S]he also took on the women's movement. 'I really have some anger in me right now,' she said. 'I think the women's movement has got to reverse itself on the motherhood thing it's important and necessary that a mother stay home and be a mother for the first few years of a baby's life.'"

Teresa, tell us something we DON'T already know.
This is a big nothing. Like I said in an earlier thread: Drudge always has a big fanfare before his big let down. This was 1976 for goodness sake. This will not stick anymore than the Bush DUI in the 70's.
Finally a democrat telling the truth. There's always a first time for everything.
Well the Bush DUI did stick with enough of the voters to make it close, or close enough for all the vote fraud across the country and esp. Florida to matter.
But no one in the media will cover this story. Even Laura's change from conservative Democrat to Republican got little coverage. Of course she isn't as colorful or blunt in her language, thank goodness for that!!
Well, evidently Kennedy's behavior convinced Teresa that he's not a perfect bastard.
Nothing to see here, move along.
She was in 1971. She was in 1976. She was in 1988. She was in 1992. She is today.
Her official political opinion is "clueless" and always has been.
The demonew-shills are trying to make Mrs. T the issue so her dork hub can slide in. Ala Hil Rod Clin taking the heat while B J C did the women and slid into the Big House.
Score, dudette.
Oh, good grief, this was the big announcement? Something she said in 1976? What a let down.
Thank you for posting this: It's just the tip o'the iceberg On She Who Opens Her Mouth Before She Thinks.
(Then again Michael Moore wouldn't hesitate for a moment to make a crisis out of it if the shoe were on the Elephants' foot)
She was a Republican then.
I think I got Teresa figured out. Please tell me if I'm on or off mark.
Her rich late husband was a Republican. She chased him for $$$ and towed his political line in public. To her, politics is about getting what you want, not about issues that preserve American ideals.
After she was widowed and got control over her late husband's fortune, she found her match in John Kerry who was chasing her for the same reason she chased her late husband, his $$$. So they are birds of the same feather.
Now she is towing the Democrat line because that's what rich liberals who inherit money do, especially when they started outside the ruling circles.
I knew there had to be an explanation.
I think it's likely that one can't quantify/qualify the damage that election "eve" DUI leak did....but I'd bet that "hanging chads" wouldn't have entered America's vocabulary if that DUI hadn't surfaced.
Of course the Dems have the Crying Lying Clymer Boys to run with their water....and the Repub's don't.
FRegards,
I have always liked her, and I don't think she was out of line with that 'shove it' incident, either. I didn't approve of her switch to the Democrat Party, though, but she didn't ask.
No I don't think she was out of line either but being a democrat now she doesn't have to worry the media will hold it over her head.
