Ted Kennedy: In the spirit of the first JFK
Boston Globe ^ | July 26, 2004 | Ted Kennedy

Posted on 07/26/2004 3:38:50 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

..........I was touched the first time I heard John Kerry use the phrase that captures the essence of each of these important goals. Kerry will be a president with the skill and judgment to "let America be America again."

The parallel to 1960 is extraordinary -- a war hero from Massachusetts with the initials JFK coming forward with the ability and commitment to inspire the nation and get our country moving again, both here at home and in the eyes of the world........

Hey Uncle Ted, John F*ckin' doesn't have the youth and charm of your late brother. This JFK doesn't rise to the stature of the last one.

War hero? A 4-month tour followed by anti-war protesting and admissions of guilt for committing war crimes -- that's a war hero?

A PHONEY war hero, and a drunk, whoremongering fat-ass (and did I mention murderer)?! These two are quite a pair. America deserves better Senator lush!!!

During the past 3-½ years, America has had the finest leadership it has ever been blessed with. I think we will stick with the horse what “brung” us!!!

There's the way he faced down the Soviets during the Cuban Missle Crisis. I don't think a Democrat today would as tough minded against Islamic fascism as the first JFK was against Communism. And there's that line from his inaugural address to the effect our rights from God and the stirring them that called this generation of Americans to give their everything to ensure the success and the survival of liberty. No, we don't see that spirit in today's Democratic Party. Today, Kerry represents the party of hostility to religious faith and the party of dithering in the face of evil in our time. They're among the reasons why a lot of the old line JFK Democrats have left their party. There's no way no how the 2004 nominee shares anything in common with the martyred 35th President except fortuitous initials. Kerry is no John F. Kennedy.

Nobody at the 1960 Democrat convention gave out glossy books with family photos of...Woodrow Wilson.

Yes, Democrats, John F. Kennedy has been dead for FORTY-ONE YEARS.

Have you anything to say about what your party has done SINCE 1963?

Any new ideas? Any new policy proposals?

ANYTHING?

Guess I'm getting old, my memory is playing tricks on me.

Did Kennedy vote for every tax increase that crossed his desk? Did he vote to defund the military and cripple our intelligence at every opportunity? Did he support abortion on demand and homosexual marriage? Guess I forgot that part of Kennedy's platform.

Back to the present, though --- is Kerry going to cut taxes to stimulate the economy? No? How about committing thousands of troops and a large chunk of our GNP to a war in southeast Asia?

Maybe it's the hair...

Just curious - Did you live in that era?

I remember rumors (that were quickly quashed), of some admiral who disobeyed Kennedy's orders to do nothing to provoke the commies, and fired a torpedo across their bow. THAT'S why they turned back.

He sold out the Cubans at the Bay of Pigs. He left them die on the beaches while we had everything sitting off shore to kick Castro's ass.

JFK was a lying, cheating, womanizing POS.

John F. Kennedy was also quoted as saying
"You haven't been with a woman 'til you've had her three ways."

Sorry, I misquoted. This was the quote:

JFK is quoted by Traphes Bryant as saying to a friend, "I'm not through with a girl till I've had her three ways."
