"I want people to get their head up out of their mashed potatoes and learn something about the issues and go and vote."

Linda should have taken her own advise instead of gorging herself on mashed potatoes

She looks unhappy & unhealthy

I do not begrudge anyone their opinon, but it makes me angry when she assumes she is the only one who knows what is going on and we are all uneducated idiots. It is quite the opposite.

Last night in San Rafael, two of my sisters were at her concert. It was great until the end, they said, but Linda couldn't resist and started in. At that point, one of my sisters yelled out, "Not on MY time you don't!" She said she thought Rondstadt had heard her.

Just thought you'd enjoy knowing. {:^)

The problem with big-name entertainers is that they are surrounded by an entourage of yes men (or yes women), they are totally insulated and removed from the real world (like left-wing academics), and no one challenges them on anything. Up until now, they've been able to make their inane assertions without anyone responding. That's changed. They have their right to free speech, but so do we, the public. If we don't like what they say and do, we're free to comment, too, and we will not just shut up and mindlessly continue to buy their albums, see their movies, and watch their TV shows. What a shock it must be for them!

I think Linda is dedicating the wrong song to Moore. Instead of "Desperado," it should be "Junk Food Junkie."

Malkin has summarized superbly all the reasons why Americans are increasingly tired of the Hollywood Left.

Remember how the public's view of Hollywood was greatly dimmed by the 9-11 attacks?

Most Americans have no time for the blame America first Hollywood crowd when the reality of what an evil and dangerous world we live in becomes evident.

This of course is why Bush became so wildy popular, because he is EXACTLY the sort of leader we need.
Unfortunately it's been so long since the terrorists have hit us at home that many Americans are again becoming complacent.

...Ronstadt's fans would do well to inform themselves about how she thinks about them. "It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian," she confessed. "It can cloud my enjoyment," she pouted.

Do Ronstadt a favor. Uncloud her enjoyment and stay home.

I didn't have any intention of attending any of her concerts, but I can declare that I won't be buying any of her CDs to replace the albums I have (and which I'd now consider donating to somebody for target practice). ... "Pull!"

Linda also probably doesn't have any hope of a SlimFast gig in her future. ;)

-"...that there is a philosophical contract that says an artist must entertain an audience only in the ways that audience sees fit."-

The concert advertisements don't say "your favorite music, plus the artist's current political rantings". It's clearly false advertising to provide anything other than the music. If they thought we wanted to hear that crap, they'd try to draw more ticket sales by advertising it.

Thanks to the smart audience on this one.

As usual, one of the very best, most articulate of the conservative minds has once again nailed it right on the nose! Malkin is probably my favorite columnist, and she expresses my own feelings much like Michael Savage does.

"This behavior assumes that Ms. Ronstadt had no right to express a political opinion from the stage."

Once again, the New York Times assumes (perhaps rightly so) that its readers are stupid. This behavior doesn't assume anything of the kind.

Of course, Ronstadt has the right to do that. And everyone else has the right to walk out and to fire her.

Say, by the way, how are the Dixie Chicks doing?

She represents the face of the Hollyweird Left: puffy, petulant, and more self-absorbed than my diapered 8-month-old baby after a bottle of warm milk and a nap.

Man, if that ain't the truth.

I saw her in concert last year. She sang all that Nelson Riddle drivel that is basically elevator music. She tried hard to look like the most bored person at the event but there were several thousand competitors for the title. She was awful, her little voice was gone and the band even sucked.

Now she's an idiot too. Strike three Linda

Last weekend, the 58-year-old diva disdainfully took the stage in Las Vegas ("It's such a strange, weird place," she complained)

Then she returned home to Kalifornia.

Excellent post.

Ben Stein's last column nails these tiring hate America Follywooders whose talent has left them, like the fat and ugly Rondstadt!

"The Real Stars - Ben Stein

"The real stars, the ones who keep this country free on Independence Day and every day, are the ones who lead a patrol down an alley in Falluja with some maniac terrorist aiming an AK-47 at their heads. The real stars are the ones who leave their families behind at a dusty Army base and go off and risk––and lose––their lives to do their duty by their country and free men and women everywhere.

"They're the ones who go off into Godforsaken valleys in Afghanistan hunting for Al Qaeda, never knowing if they'll ever come back, and often not coming back. Think Pat Tillman and you've pretty much got it.

"There are other real stars in this country like the men and women in Walter Reed Army Hospital getting fitted with prosthetic limbs because a bomb took off their leg below the knee in Mosul, Iraq. Their wives and girlfriends and parents and kids cheering them on are real stars, too. So are the doctors and techs who make the limbs.

"This country could last forever without the billionaire movie and TV stars in the magazines. We could not last a month without the men and women who fight for us. It's high time we got our priorities straight. Those guys and gals in Bagram and Ramadi and Fallujah and everywhere else, alive or dead or wounded, are the real stars, the ones who light up the night of tyranny with the light of freedom. We would not have a July 4th worth having without them. God bless them today and every day!"

To sum up Ben, "America and we will last forvever without the likes of Ronstadt. She and the other no talent porkers from Follywood are worthless versus the realities of life.

Linda simply has no idea how rude she was to her audiences. And typical of the NYTimes to co-enable bad behavior.

Get their head up out of their mashed potatoes? I find this so amusing, has anyone seen a picture of the mashed potato Queen (Ms R) lately?

Will she tone down her outrage?

Fat chance!
