The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

Sources: Al Qaeda Plotting to Attack New York City Corporations


N E W Y O R K, July 31, 2004 — ABC News has learned that federal and New York City officials have received credible intelligence that al Qaeda has been plotting to carry out suicide attacks on corporations based in the city.


Sources at several law enforcement agencies tell ABC News that an "overseas source" has provided the information about the threat to New York and that it is more significant than the usual "chatter" intercepted from likely terrorists that has prompted warnings in the past.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, this used to be known as the "Albanian Doublecross" for the terrorists from Albania who first used it, or so we were told in our counter-terror briefings in the army.

Agreed, although I believe we have interdicted many potentially disasterous plots since. But this is a RLW (Real Live War) and they won't stop, ever. They would have planned for setbacks. All it will take is one spectacular strike on U.S. soil and they'll have enough Jihad recruits to make things real interesting.

I know the source in the article is not to be mentioned and I think I avoided doing that by posting that link. There was also an interesting over head map/layout of the mosque which I still haven't located. It was at Jill's site also, but I can't find it there anymore.

True. That is a central motive (not just to terrorize the target but to "inspire" potential recruits).

But what constitutes "spectacular"? They set the bar pretty high with 9/11. And the verbal threats from top AQ leadership since 9/11 has been over the top.

Even a dozen simultaneous car/truck bombs successfully detonated would have difficulty surpassing the 3,000 dead on 9/11 to the extent needed to be considered "spectacular" and worthy of the global jihad they seek to lead.

They need something far more catastrophic than 9/11. And you don't get there with conventional explosives . . .but they might have other purposes (misdirection or diverting resources) that would help them get to that goal of a "spectacular" attack.

If I had to choose among the lesser of all the evils, I'd choose something conventional. And if I were a terrorist, I'd give us a threat we are expecting (or in the grand scheme of things "hoping" to see as opposed to WMD) and get us to focus on that. Fighting the last war (1993 WTC, 1995 OKC, 1998 Kenya&Tanzania - - Ghailani's hit)

Not to say this isn't real. It probably is. But this is not "it". Not by a long shot.

Hopefully, we disrupt it all and never find out what the "main act" is supposed to be.

Palestinians Have Been in Holy Land Since Creation, Video Says

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - A new Palestinian poetry video, aired on Palestinian Authority television nearly every day for the past few weeks, says the Palestinian people have been in the Holy Land since man was created, according to an independent Israeli media watchdog group.

Despite historical evidence to the contrary, Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat and other PA officials have claimed for years that the land on which the State of Israel was established never belonged to the Jewish people; there was never a Jewish temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City; and Jesus was not a Jew but a Palestinian.

"Denying Israel's right to exist by claiming the Jews have no historical roots in Israel is a backbone of Palestinian Authority cultural education, as is the attempt to reinforce Palestinian claims to the land by creating an ancient Palestinian history in Israel," said the Palestinian Media Watch in a report issued on Friday.

"You and Us," the new poetry video, combines both of those elements, PMW said.

"You are phantoms on my land," the video says, showing pictures of Israelis. "And our roots in her are deep," it says showing scenes of the land.

"For a million years it is our homeland. May the conquerors exploit as they will," it continues with scenes of war. "We came -- the dawn of man's creation in the world and our arrival -- the beginning and time, before us no foot strode through her."

The video poem goes on to say that all the caves, rivers, plants, vineyards and fields in the land belong to the Palestinians.

Scenes of Arafat appear with words saying that this is "the beginning" followed the "end," which shows the Al-Aqsa Mosque. "And the course of history -- revolution," it says, showing the waving PA flag.

On Thursday, Arafat gave scores of Fatah activists the same message.

"Those who are near and far should know that this land is the land of the Palestinian people, whether they like it or not," Arafat told the Fatah activists who had rallied at his Ramallah compound in a show of solidarity.

The Palestinians, he said, would continue their struggle until Jerusalem is liberated and "one of our roses and children raise the Palestinian flag on the wall, minarets, and churches of Jerusalem."

The main difference here is:
1. The link was posted as the 2nd source and she had no knowledge, so I asked mods to delete
2. Then I, the third source posted the article and after checking I also asked that be deleted very quickly
3. Labyrinthos explained 'law' to Sean
4. Doug then brought it much later to JR,and I cannot blame JR also after what he's been through but not one thing was intent maliciousness on 'TM'rs" We followed the rules and promptly, so very glad the mods were contacted 'before' Doug contacted JR
