Clinton Was Warned: Terrorists in U.S.
Human Events ^ | July 23, 2004

The massive report released July 22 by the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States reveals that the Clinton Administration was warned in early 2000 that U.S. borders were open to terrorists and that terrorist sleeper cells had already penetrated the United States.

The warning came in a memo written by National Security Council aide Richard Clarke after al Qaeda had failed in its Millenium Plot, which included plans to detonate a bomb at Los Angeles International airport on Jan. 1, 2000. That attack was foiled when terrorist Ahmed Ressam panicked and ran as he was pat-searched by a Customs agent at Port Angeles, Wash., where Ressam had arrived from Canada via ferry.

A search of Ressam's rental car turned up the bomb he intended to use in Los Angeles.

Clarke made recommendations on how the United States could combat the al Qaeda threat. His memo said U.S. efforts thus far had "not put too much of a dent" in Osama bin Laden's network.

In summarizing Clarke's Jan. 11, 2000, memo, the 9/11 commission, says, "If the United States wanted to 'roll back' the threat, disruption would have to proceed at 'a markedly different tempo.' Second, 'sleeper cells' and 'a variety of terrorist groups' had turned up at home."

National Security Council staff advised the Clinton Administration to promote CIA efforts to go after al Qaeda, crack down on terrorists in the United States, and bolster immigration enforcement.

I wonder what the next show to drop will be. Since the LSM won't run with these stories it seems like the administration will have to spoon feed the public. The timing is suspicious but it's the only way to tell the story.

"The timing is suspicious but it's the only way to tell the story."

The piglet liberal news media isn't going to tell the story if they can keep from doing it.

The timing? In my opinion, Clinton and Berger leaked the story. That means one thing: If the truth of what has happened is ever known, it will make Watergate look like a joke.

Minnetta(sp) was one of the Clinton holdovers.
I think Bush should have replaced all the the Clinton appointed folks. I realize Bush was trying to show loyalty to public servants and keep them out of the political game.....but you don't reach that level of public service without being in the political game already.

Scarborough had a Fab show tonite with Steve Emerson. I think he said that Clinton was given a VERY detailed PDB, but Bush was given an ambiguous one!!!! None of the show was good for Clinton!

follow-up on that story tonight is that the band did, indeed, check out and played somewhere in the midwest as it was reported.

Norm Minetta was a hold-over per se in that he did serve in the Clinton administration but not in the (Transportation) post he holds today in the Bush administration.

He "Was Warned: Terrorists in U.S." when Al Qaeda worked directly with McVeigh and Nichols to take out the Murrah Building.

I had to keep rewinding to take it all in. Did you catch the stuff on General Zinni? He quit Bush over Iraq and then helped write that book with Clancy? Bet there's a story there.

Yeah, but Clinton was unable to act on the warning because he had been well paid by the kerrorists to just launch a coulpe of missiles that wouldn't hit anything. Nor, could Willie warn Bush because the payments also covered not making a big thing out of it.

Who knew that the Muslim murders, the scum of Islam, would be forced to murder 300 folks in NYC? Willie certainly didn't!

Aren't these the democrats talking points?

Clinton ignored terrorism on purpose, it was no mistake. He didn't want the nation to get the idea that anything was bad in this country under his watch, and preferred to blame right wingers for anything that happened.
