I heard excerpts of the speech and read the transcript. It was powerful and honest. I thought the audience seemed receptive. Unfortunately, on tonight's news I heard Sharpton say that his message would have resonated more if he (GWB) were not the messenger. GRRRRRRR !

Are you kidding? I'm watching the replay now and the President was very gracious to Sharpton, as he was to all the attendess that he pointed out specifically. Why can't people just be gracious in return? Why did Sharpton have to say something negative after sitting and smiling in the man's face?

%%%%%

What an idiotic statement. The speech WAS President Bush. Sharpton, Jesse, Sr, and some others in that room must have had their eyes opened by his ability to get a rapport with today's audience.
