Wow! I just noticed the date on the article - 2004... Now I'll check the end of the thread and see if there have been any updates.
It did sound familiar.

"I'd rather have a palm reader run me through a diagnostic evaluation for depression before about 80% of the psychologists I've dealt with (professionally, by the way)." You've got that right wolf24. Lower cost and maybe a higher accuracy rate from a palm reader.

Neither Swift nor Franklin, nor Jefferson ever used smiling icons or slash-sarcasm. Neither should any of us use them, for these constitute an insult to reader's intellect.
Excellent point, GSlob. I think I recall a winking smiley in Twain's Roughing It, though.

It's a neat little system they've got going. Shout down the opposition, and then get "the crowd" broken up by "the man" because of all the shouting. Mission accomplished, soapbox neutralized. On a number of topics. Getting really friggin' old...

About that last ping... (this Illinois article) :-)
It's an old article. The link goes nowhere. And I think three Freepers are just having some fun here. I promise to get some sleep before pinging the next time.
Post #95 does have a link to what appears to be the actual legislation passed as well as other info.

I have family obligations now, but as soon as I'm able, I'm moving to another state. Illinois sucks.

I wonder if you can freep mail the Admin Mod and ask for the link in 149 to be added to your original post?
People are going to come to this thread, see the old date, click the article link, see bad request and assume this is a joke.
The PDF on 149 is what the article was sourcing.

Well, after a good night's sleep... :-) ...it appears this "article" links to nowhere, and some Freepers here indicated they're just having some fun.
Which is a tremendous relief!
Still, any legislation regarding "mental health screening" is something we all need to watch closely. (Thanks, Cal, for the other links).

IL Launches Compulsory Mental Health Screening For Children And Pregnant Women
Misleading headline, as we find out just ONE SENTENCE into the story:
This week, a series of public forums on a program requiring all pregnant women and children through age 18 years to be tested for mental health needs is being held this week in five different locations statewide.
So nothing is being launched except discussion forums. No actual program. Keep your undies on.

Thanks for that link, I've also updated the original link to the article, which seems to have been taken down.

I am quite capable of "assessing my child's social and emotional development" all by myself, thank you.
I would be fleeing that state so fast........
