Woman With Possible Terror Ties Arrested

Federal agents believe a South African woman they have in custody may have ties to terrorists.

Farida Goolam Mahomed Ahmed was taken into custody Monday when she tried to board a plane at McAllen Miller International Airport. The Federal Bureau of Investigation would not release any information Thursday, but NEWSCHANNEL 5 obtained court papers filed by an FBI Special Agent assigned to the bureau's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The documents show that Border Patrol Agents stopped Ahmed at the airport while conducting an inspection. When asked for her status in the United States, Ahmed presented a South African passport with no entry or exit stamps and some pages torn away. She was also carrying a bag of wet, muddy clothes with her travel documents.

Investigators found travel itineraries showing that Ahmed flew from South Africa to London, via the United Arab Emirates on July 8. Six days later, Ahmed flew from London to Mexico City. After initially claiming her VISA was left in New York, Ahmed later admitted that she was smuggled into the United States through the Texas border.

Ahmed is facing three charges of violating United States Code, including making false statements, mutilating her passport, and entering the country illegally.

I wonder how if he would appreciate it if people started sending guns and ammunitions down to some of the oppressed Indians revolting in the southern areas of Mexico?

The Islamists are already recruiting/proselytizing in the area.

The military needs to be put there and invaders shot.

Exactly. How and why Fox controls Texas' border is mind boggling. Of course it's a little after the horse has left the barn but at least it'll keep out the new ones.

Hi Aunt B - The majority of America wants the borders protected, but Washington won't listen. If a terror attack occurs and it can be traced to a border hopper, Bush will be in big trouble, but he won't listen to us because he wants the "hispanic vote". OUTRAGE!

But Steven Camarota, director of research at the Center for Immigration Studies, blames the lack of enforcement on political issues, rather than practical ones. "The problem with immigration has always been the same: It's very heavily penetrated by very powerful interest groups, and that makes it very hard to enforce the law," he said. "The ethnic advocacy groups provide the moral outrage and racial politics, while the business community provides the political influence, the big guns and the big money to prevent law enforcement."

I'm wondering if this woman was some sort of 'pawn' sent thru the airport, while her companions were loaded into vehicles ??

Like many 'border stories' we probably won't hear the "rest of the story".

It looks like this TV station dug up the few 'facts' that were presented in this story.....as nothing was released by our FBI.

Who is going to frisk a pregnant woman at airport security?

LOL!!! My blue-eyed, blond daughter, who is due in October, was frisked at BWI a couple of weeks ago! (BTW - she was accompanied by her husband, who is a Major in the USMC.)

Why in God's name do they let the other terrorist's know when we catch one? Don't you think it might be more effective if the terrorist's thought she was still running lose and that their nefarious plan had not been partially exposed. That's my thought for what it's worth.

our rural agriculture, face problems in finding available labor

yeah, and they just meander up onto your property talking in gibberish, motioning work stuff. I've decided, after all of this, to demand cards, names and phone numbers to "contact" them. A hispanic friend is readily available to interpret for me. AND to tell them to "get off my property."

I suspect that for every one we hear about there are no telling how many more our government isn't telling (us) the public about. Could the number of terrorists coming across our in-secure southern border be in the dozens?! Maybe even more?!

It's even worse than you think! According to the PC rules approved by Sec. Minetta (isn't he a Democrat)for vetting passengers, only one passenger of Mid East background can be investigated per flight because otherwise we'd be using racial profiling.

So if Ben Laden and Zwaheri were on the same plane, the Fed inspectors would have to give them a pass. INSANITY!

Are they buying cameras when they get here ? I posted a few days ago that I live in a border town and have been trying to buy a digital camera. The clerk told me that recently they haven't been able to keep them in stock because the "Mexican Nationals" buying them up as fast as they can get them.

What??? This is nuts!
