JARRATT, Va. (AP) — A man who fatally shot his wife and 2-year-old son was put to death by injection Thursday night.

Asked by the warden if he had any final words, Mark W. Bailey said in a clear, strong voice, "No, thank you." He was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m. at the Greensville Correctional Center.

Bailey, a Gulf War veteran and Navy submariner, was convicted of capital murder in July 1999.

It should be quick. In the old days they used to execute a person for any murder, now it's got to be "special circumstances" as they say in the California penal code. This will never happen up here, in the NY/NJ area.

Execution took place 37 days after the crime for the man who shot at Franklin D Roosevelt and Anton Cermak

Asked by the warden if he had any final words, Mark W. Bailey said in a clear, strong voice, "No, thank you."

At least he had a chance to voice his final words. No such luxury for his wife and precious child. And what's with..."a clear strong voice". There is (WAS) nothing strong about this man. Did Susan Sarandon write this article?

Yeah, you're right! Creepy.

And I hope Scott suffers the same fate -- IF he's truly guilty (as distinguished from legally guilty).
