Resurrect the Rat Pack!
Interestin...."ALLADIN"......middle eastern theme....coincidence??
Hmmm, I don't plan on going to Vegas anytime soon, but if I do, the Aladdin will be off limits. Planet Hollywood is already on my booboo list.
Oh well, this is America and they have that right and I have the right not to patronize their business and give them any of my hard-earned dollars.
They're going bankrupt. Planet Hollywood is owned by Hollywood stars. They've had to close many of their properties around the world, and aren't doing well in Vegas. The Hip crowd goes to the Hard Rock Cafe here
I went to the Planet Hollywood in Vegas which is in the Mall attached to Ceaser's Palace (the Forum) and the food and service was not good at all. I can see why they are not doing well.
That never even crossed my mind! Nice catch.
Heh, I hope they support the rights of the guests to express themselves! "Another cocktail, Linda?" (Splash!)
They'll have to spend millions just to reinforce the stage....
Why not! They've joined the bankruptcy list more than once.
So what if the desk clerk gave the people checking in a 5 minute lecture about how great Michael Moore is?? Eventually she would get fired, she is employee, as was Ronstadt. You anger your employer, you run the risk of getting fired. She just needs to close her pie hole and take her lumps.
Why would one go to Planet Hollywood?
Hard Rock Hotel is way off the strip, across the street from a B-list (or maybe C-list) hotel (at which I stayed).
I walked through it with a friend. The gaming floor / main room looks a lot like the scene in Pulp Fiction.
I had the impression that it was a young, out-of-it crowd, all standing around waiting for something to happen. They play up the movie connection, with prominent signs posted around the gaming area informing anyone who might care that by entering the hotel of your own free will you are giving legal permission to be filmed for entertainment purposes and should therefore consider being elsewhere if you are not prepared to be in Quentin Tarantino's next movie.
The crowd seemed surly to me.
Cabanas in the back, completely deserted at 8:00 on a Wednesday night. No one in the pool. Everything dark. Maybe it wasn't our night.
Pointless rock and roll artifacts scattered about. Not a soul looking at them.
All in all the least friendly place I checked out during my three glorious days in Sin City.
Oh yeah, I loved that sign at the airport. You know, the one that says: Good Bye. For Now.
(steely)
I never thought they could build the absolute tackiest hotel in Las Vegas, but they did and it's called the Alladin.
FYI--Starwood owns a very insignificant ownership interest (15%) in the Aladdin and thus won't have any decision power, and for that matter, Planet Hollywood will not be the new owner of the Aladdin...Robert Earl (CEO of PH) will personally be a part owner. He and his partner have simply gained the licensing rights to use the Planet Hollywood name. You guys have every right to choose to boycott either of these companies (in fact, knock yourselves out), but it's a little more complicated than everyone is making it out to be. At the end of the day, who are you really hurting?
