Any political motivations in that class-action lawsuit against Wal-Mart?

Went home and informed the hubby we will no longer be shopping in Costco..Walmart is now building a store and a Sams Club in North Jersey..... finally.

Shucks, I really don't like Wal-Mart. I'll shop at Meijers -- and good ol' local owned, neighborhood stores!

I really love seeing a 1.7 million dollar donation from some one who thinks wealth isn't fairly distributed.
The guy is CEO, couldn't he take a pay cut and voluntarily raise the rates of some of the cashier's,etc?

One more reason to shop at Wal Mart. When explaining free market capitalism to people, I use a "Wal Mart Theory of Economics", while contrasting Wal Mart's bulk=profit policy to the "PT Barnum Theory of Economics" which socialists use (jacking prices while sticking "clearance" tags on the jacked-up items)

Eh, no thanks. I try not to give my money to organizations that support totalitarian communist regimes (ChiComs).

Yeah, me too. I have a Costco and Sams membership. I like having the option, but this persuades me to stick with Sams.

Wal-Mart isn't perfect, but they are much better than the alternatives. Hold them to what you want. Write and complain about the things you do not like. But I thought everyone should know who they are supporting.

"Costco Chief Executive Officer Jim Sinegal, 68, is a Democrat who says President Bush's $1.7 trillion in tax cuts unfairly benefit the wealthy. He opposed the Iraq war and supports Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts for president. And he's the only chief executive of a company in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index to donate money to independent political groups formed to oust Bush, Internal Revenue Service records show."

This is worth passing on to all the Wal Mart / Sam's Club bangers here on FR - ping. (The BIG MONEY pushing Kerry's machine - not just HOLLYWEED, and not just SOROS!)

I'm on the west side of Houston, and I can't even think of where there's a Wal-Mart close to us. I think maybe the one on Dunvale, perhaps.
Which should tell you how often I shop at the nasty, filthy Wal-Mart . . . NEVER.
Not since I found out that Wal-Mart accepts returns of used undergarments and bathing suits . . . which isn't so bad, until you find out said return items are resold. UGH.

That is a VERY good question. I've never had hose last beyond one wearing, so I've never had anything to return.
