"Candidates ignore 'security moms,' at their peril" (reviewed by Redbob)

Michelle Malkin has a new column out, and it's linked through the NRA's home page, under "More NRA News & Information..."

It's a good read, and even worth going through all this trouble to get. The opening line sets the tone for the article, and grabs your attention

"I am what this year's election pollsters call a "security mom." I'm married with two young children. I own a gun. And I vote."

and follows later with the heart of the piece, discussing her real concern:

"Security moms will never forget that toddlers and schoolchildren were incinerated in the hijacked planes on Sept. 11. Murderous Islamic fanatics will stop at nothing to do the same to our kids."

TOPICS: Constitution/Conservatism; Culture/Society; Editorial; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: banglist; dimocrats; guns; michelle; moms; usayesterday
Did a search, and as unlikely as it seems, this two-day-old Malkin article didn't show up.

(Now if I can just find a picture of her...)

Thanks for the link.

I kept getting a message about not posting USA Today articles, so I thought a "review" of that article would fly.

I am a Security Mom.

I have been scanning the horizon since 1980 for every threat to my babies and now that the 3 boys are of military age, I will support their possible entry into the WOT

ONLY

under the command of President Bush.

Well, I am not completely sure about the rules. This is why I posted a link only. Hey thanks for bringing this to my attention. I missed it...I love Michelle.

Good for you;
I'm a 'security dad' but I carried a gun long before "9/11," and I've always known there's only one person interested in the security of myself and my family.

Me.

It would still pain me enormously to see either of my sons in the military; I guess I would bear it somehow, but I cannot imagine the pain of those who lose a son, and I cannot imagine how they carry on.

Thanks again; I'm not sure anybody would have gone to the trouble of going to the NRA site.

I only knew about this article because of the NRA's "Daily E-mail Alert" system.

This letter is in reply to your opinion article: Candidates Ignore 'Security Moms,' At
Their Peril" By Michelle Malkin

Though I am normally a fan of Michele Malkin's columns, I feel that she is off base when she states that the President Bush “continues to fight only a half-hearted battle to defend Americans on American soil from hostile invasion or attack."

I am one of those "Security Moms" that she mentions. I have young children that I fear may not be able to grow up in a terror free world if we do not keep our current president in office. I know that I want a future for my children that will be filled with joy and triumphs and not daily fears from terrorists. I also know that I am not alone, as I am part of a group of "Security Moms" that now has members and volunteers in twenty-six states. And yes, we vote and we plan on voting for George W. Bush.

This President was in office only eight months when the tragedies of 9-11 affected our nation. Since that time President Bush has showed such strength and resolve, that we "Security Moms" are all grateful. WE ARE SAFER today than before we went into Iraq. The U.S. could not risk “waiting” until the enemy of America passed their capabilities of weapons to terrorists. We took the fight to them ~~ before they came here!!

This Administration is proactively strengthening our intelligence and our First Responders to defend and protect OUR neighborhoods! We all know how slow those "inside the beltway" can react, yet in three years since the attacks on our country this Administration has formed the Department of Homeland Security, Enacted the Patriot Act, Formed the Terrorist Threat Integration Center, instituted numerous improvements with our airports’ security , established the Container Security Initiative to protect our ports, and passed legislation for Monetary Assistance to support state and local 1st Responders to prepare them for possible terrorist attacks. These are just a few of the many things that the Bush Administration has worked with Congress to protect our homeland. Security Moms are aware of this and appreciate all the positive steps that have been taken.

President Bush and his team have taken the fight to the enemy. As "Security Moms" we feel safer at night, knowing that we are keeping the terrorists out of our cities and our neighborhoods. This President has taken steps proving that we are shrinking the territory where terrorists can operate, they are leading the United States to help the world create an international environment not conducive to terrorists or those that support them.

I totally disagree with Ms. Malkin that "It is clear that the GOP elite gravely underestimates the wrath we security moms feel ...."

“Security Moms” are being noticed. We need to keep George W. Bush in office to continue this fight on terrorism. As a "Security Mom" my major fear is that all moms will not stand up for their convictions and admit that they too are "Security Moms" that know the ONLY issue to be concerned about this coming election is our National Security and that we need to keep the current Administration in office so that we can continue to keep this war out of our towns and our neighborhoods.
