On Sept. 11, 2001 — it all seemed so sudden, and without warning. But three years and two investigations later, it's clear there was a tragic trail of missed opportunities to stop some of the hijackers, disrupt the plot and perhaps save 3,000 lives.

I think Chrissy definitely qualifies as a "girlie man."
Half an hour through the show....and I can say that a lot of the problems were organizational issues.....That Senate and House folks have regulatory oversight of.
I am SO Sure we will see the Congress types acknowledge their own fowl ups.....

John Kerry had far more warnings than George Bush about 9/11 and completely ignored them. On May 6, 2001 (3 months before the PDB) Brian Sullivan, a retired FAA special agent from the Boston area, Kerry's home state, sent a letter to John Kerry outlining exactly how the 9/11 tragedy would happen. He even mentioned Logan Airport, the very airport two of the 9/11 planes took off from.
Sullivan's letter (pgs 1,2) was prompted by a report on Fox 25 TV News in Boston. They set up an undercover investigation where in 9 out of 10 attempts, news crews got knives thru airport security. Here are some cuts from Sulivan's letter to his Senator, John Kerry:
"With the concept of jihad, do you think it would be difficult for a determined terrorist to get on a plane and destroy himself and all other passengers?"
...Think what the result would be of a coordinated attack which took down several domestic flights on the same day. With our current screening, this is more than possible. It is almost likely.
...The DOT OIG has become an ineffective overseer of the FAA, ... Scathing reports have been developed on airport/airline security and FAA facility security. Still, the culture continues to perpetuate itself and managers have been promoted up the chain, despite the fact that they've supported this facade of security and abused line agents who dare speak the truth.
After receiving no reply from Senator Kerry, Sullivan had a copy of the tape hand delivered to John Kerry's office. 11 Weeks later, after Mr. Sullivan told Kerry the DOT OIG was ineffective and urged congressional hearings, John Kerry finally replied:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your work on civil aviation issues. I appreciate hearing from you.
I have forwarded your tape of WFXT-25's recent report on airport security to the Department of Transportaion's Office of the Inspector General. (OIG) My staff has requested that the OIG respond...
A total of 3 FAA agents contacted John Kerry in the months before 9/11 and tried to get him to do something. Each one detailed the problems at Boston's Logan as well of other airports. One agent even offered to fly to Washington at his own expense to brief Kerry on the problem. A Kerry aid told him not to bother because, "You're not a constituent."
John Kerry, more than anyone, could have stopped 9/11. He had multiple warnings detailing how the hijackings would be done. He chose to ignore the warnings.
I know all the "usual suspects" that have been harping on what Bush knew in the Aug 6, PDB will now have the same moral outrage about this. Right? Right?

They claim that everyone should have been the Great Carnac...and seen everything coming.
Yeah, folks screwed up ...no doubt about it.....but in the end...this will just make hard working Agents/LEOs take a publicity hit for organizational matters forced by Congressional Gimps.
