I think Clinton miscalculated by trying to go for humor (laughing about sloppy old Sandy always losing those danged classified docs! yuk yuk), and his sense of self-importance and loathing of being thought of as out of the loop overcame thinking through the implications and he just had to say he's known all along.
Bottom line: I think he's as nervous as he's ever been about this.

No one ever said they did, and it is irrelevant. The terrorists are many, and their goals are similar. They do not have to work together on specific projects to be a danger.

He knows Sandy Berger very well and he's a good man, he says. He doesn't know anything about this investigation though.
Larry asks if he's suspicious about the timing of the leak and Edwards says he trusts the American people to discern if they think that's the case. I did not detect any tinge of sarcasm or cynicism in tone.
He doesn't think Berger is the type to have deliberately done wrong.

Because of the phone call to Lindsay. He knew it was out at this point. I don't REALLY believe that Clinton supports anyone for Prez and he really could care less. He just likes the Podium, probably gets paid and he's simply a total egomaniac.
