All sorts of metal objects used to be allowed before 9/11. For you liberals, even during the Clinton Administration. Not just box cutters either. Nail clippers, wine openers, folding knives with less than 4" blades. And Boy Scout knives with all of the above. We used to be a free country.

What is it about liberals and their short memories?

We're still a free country. I carry a pistol, sometimes a shotgun, perhaps a beverage, even a lit cigar if I want whenever I fly. Ditto for when I drive. It's my plane. My car.

I wouldn't expect to take such things onto someone else's plane without having their permission, however.

But that's a far cry from not being free. When it's my plane, I'm free. When it's someone else's plane, I tend to honor their property.

I usually carry screwdrivers, pliers and other sharp objects in my laptop bag. I carried this stuff onto airplanes routinely before 9/11. Nobody ever questioned it.
