I didn't catch your post, but how you make the leap from people volleying insults at you and fear is perplexing. The only thing I will say about the Linda Ronstadt fiasco is how sad it is. Ronstadt is clearly a person of great musical talent. However she is also a person seriously out of touch with mainstream America and woefully niave politically. She endorsed a propaganda film created by a pathological liar and a pure coward. Michael Moore is the only film maker that I know of, who has also created a propaganda film against a constitutional right. Ms. Ronstadt is sadly, a poor consumer of information.
A week ago if/when most people thought of her at all, they thought - good voice, etc. But times change, fans drift away.
Now she has managed to piss off a whole bunch of people without the protection of her fan base - they're gone, have been for years. Leaving anger, thoughts of revenge etc. as the only emotion she can generate.
Some of these "stars" should think about that before they run their mouths. For them there are only three kinds of people out there - the POed, the indifferent and a few diehards in denial. The intensity resides with the POed.
