Today an individual time trial up the infamous l'Alpe d'Huez.

WOW - Ullrich blasts through 9.5KM 33 seconds ahead of Azevdo, he is hanging it all on the line today.
You may be right, but Bush has appointed Armstrong to the Presidential Commission on Cancer, and has invited him at the WH several times.
Remains to be seen how Lance is doing.. Looks like Basso is struggling..
Cycling news now reporting Lance is incredibly fast today and Basso is struggling already. it could be down Lance & Ullrich after today.
Mancebo comes through 1:37 behind Ullrich at 9.5 KM and has already lost 4th place in GC to Ullrich with 6 KM left. Kloden comes through 9.5 KM in second place 27 seconds behind Ullrich.

The finish climb is only a couple of kilometres of 5.7%, but every summit finish is a chance for a time gap. Voigt is pulling the train to the foot of the climb now. Armstrong seems a log way back as the climb starts and Voigt pulls off the front, but Sastre blows immediately as well and Basso is now alone.

That damage all happened as Klöden takes the front with Ullrich and Basso on his wheel, then the black-socked (I hate that. Don't you?) Armstrong, then Leipheimer. That's who it's between today...

Klöden is setting the pace still; Leipheimer seems to be finding it difficult at 500 m to go.
Basso jumps clear, but Armstrong doesn't think he deserves it and comes round him into the final couple of corners - he has it for his second (or third) stage win of this Tour.

Don't mean to give this the back of my hand, but light racing bikes are reasonably common. ScottUSA makes hardtail mountain bike frames that you can spec out to weigh about 15 pounds. Now THAT'S impressive.
I have a Giant XTC SE frame that only weighs about 2.8 pounds (alum hard tail mountain bike). The full bike is VERY lightweight and it still tips the scales at just over 23 pounds, so 15 pounds on a mtb is insane (and not fit for 240 pound riders like me!).
Where and when did this photo get taken? I love it.

Lance just crushed Jan's time at tne midway mark.
