Gov. James E. McGreevey took office as a straight-arrow former prosecutor bent on putting an end to the corruption for which New Jersey was notorious.

Bullsh!t. I don't know three people in New Jersey who would ever have described this bastard as a "straight-arrow," or who ever believed that he had any intention of ending any corruption in this state. In fact, his victory over Bret Schundler was primarily attributable to the division in the ranks of the GOP after the previous governor (Donald DiFrancesco) turned out to be as corrupt as any other New Jersey politician and failed to win his party's nomination in 2001.

According to rumors, it would be quite odd to use the words "Jim McSkeevy" and "straight" in the same sentence.

Perhaps it would be better if New Jersey were abolished as a state.
