SENATE REPUBLICANS ACCUSE JOHN KERRY OF USING CLASSIFIED INFO STOLEN BY SANDY BERGER

SEN. SAXBY CHAMBLISS: 'Reportedly these documents are related to homeland security and then suddenly we see the Kerry campaign came forward with what may have been illegal documents. This is sensitive stuff and was a significant breach of security...Kerry knows better than to use these documents,' Chambliss says in a press conference.

SEN. GORDON SMITH: 'There is a curious connection between the removal of these documents and the Kerry press conference on port security..It's disappointing what people might do as they try and take the President down.

Berger said he had made a mistake and had dealt with the matter "fully and completely."

"Last year when I was in the archives reviewing documents I made an honest mistake. It's one that I deeply regret," he said in a statement to reporters.

"Everything that I have done all along in this process has been for the purpose of aiding and supporting the work of the 9/11 commission and any suggestion to the contrary is simply absolutely wrong," he said.

Okay, now I'm convinced. /sarcasm

Many people take home secret papers just so they can work at home. That is a fact.

You are full of crap. MANY people do not take home secret papers to work on. I don't know what world you come from where people do this. I know that in my days of working with classifed info that this RARELY happened and when it did it was usually an accident of shuffling classifed into unclassified paperwork. Whenever it wasn't an accident it was usually and act of espionage. Those that take classifed work home are a threat to our national security along with those who excuse it.

Not that I like the monkey, but I think Kerry's been set up...by the Clintonistas. Heck, he may have been set up by his own VP.

Just because Kerry knew the information does not mean he knew it was classified when someone, probably Berger, gave it to him.

The timing was of the Clintons' choosing. Bill is a master at the dirty side of politics.

I just got a call from the RNC. After making a donation I was chatting with the girl and told her they had to come out swinging on this issue. She seemed to be unaware of it

The caller ID on my call from the RNC today was from an agency in DC. They are contracted to get donations - all that "can you tell us how much you are planning to commit" is to find out what their commission is going to be, I believe. Who knows if the phoners are even Republicans.

Okay,I just saw the replay and guess what? You misquoted what the Senator said AND that Senator,as I told you earlier on this thread,is NEITHER of the two GOP Senators who are featured in the body of the article which is the topic of this thread. :-)

You are jumping ahead. I think it is unhelpful to inject cynicism too early. If a presidential candidate breaks the law, we need to be properly outraged and make a big stink, not saying aw shucks he'll walk.

I'm not trying to inject cynicism or saying that we shouldn't make a big stink over it. But what I am saying is that between the stonewalling tactics of the 'Rats, the whitewashing tactics of the mainstream press, and the usual tepid response that we see from the congressional Pubbies during incidents like this, I doubt if Kerry will see any indictments anytime soon. Although I was encouraged at seeing the outraged remarks by two GOP senators today (Chambliss and Gordon, IIRC).

Our best shot is to make sure every person we know that is likely to vote gets an earful of this now, and all through the election cycle. If every Freeper can influence one or two people to either vote for Bush or not vote for Kerry and instead stay home, who knows what kind of impact that could have. Florida and New Mexico were decided by a handful of votes last time (although I expect the FL Panhandle to vote heavily this time, unlike 2000 when the media told them it was over, giving Bush a more comfortable win this time), so I see this having more of an impact on a grass-roots level rather than in a legal venue. But I am definitely not saying we should just forget it and move on.

I think when the FBI talks to the media about this case,

%%%%%

It is late, and my head is weary, so excuse me if this is a silly question - When do the FBI talk to media about a case under investigation? I cannot think of an example.

If you took classified information outside the secure facility you had a loaded M16 pointed at you, were spread-eagled on the ground, handcuffed, and arrested.
