"The Swedish organization A Non Smoking Generation covered Stockholm in posters claiming that smoking stunts penis growth and that cigarette filters are filled with mouse excrements, along with other lies aimed at getting kids to stop smoking," Agence France-Presse reports:
"We wanted to raise awareness about how the tobacco industry always promotes its products--through lies," head of the organization Anne-Therese Enarsson told AFP.
"Our lies are so exaggerated that we hope they will make people stop and think, and then come to our website to find the truth," she added.
One wonders if it's occurred to ANSG that their lies will make youngsters less likely to believe them when they do tell the truth.
Toads, I can live with, and even spiders I can semi-deal with even though those bites blow me up like a balloon....wasps are an entirely different story.
I am absolutely terrified of being stung/bit by anything other than a flea, fly, or mosquito.
The last time I was stung by a bee I was driving and nearly passed out. The welt was about the size of a #10 business envelope with 10 sheets of paper folded into it and it stayed for more than 6 weeks. Thankfully that was more than 15 years ago.
Hubby is not as optimistic as I am about my luck holding out and wants me to get one of those adreniline kits, just in case.
I have a mosquito bite on my ankle right now - got nailed about 2 hours ago when I went out to deal with the dog's chain being tangled around the garden timbers.......my ankle is currently the size of a softball.
You are really funny!
I asked the pharmacist about getting an atropine kit for D. last summer. It seems that you need a doctor's order. I live in fear that one of the mud-dauber wasps is going to nail him and I won't have time to run in and call the ambulance-----assuming I was there when it happened.
I have mega bug bits on my legs and feet from the chiggers and fleas in the tall grass. I always (well nearly always) wear shoes but no socks in the yard but these bugs are biting the crap out of me this year. I don't know if it is because it was so mild early in summer or if it's seasonal.
It seems like everytime I go out in the garden (giant spiders in the tomato patch) or walk down to the boat I am eaten with bug bites. I don't have an allergic reaction, I just scratch for a week. I scar easily, so I try not to scratch but when your toes itch, it's hard to keep your shoes on and leave it alone.
Hubby came tearing into the garage on Saturday for the wasp spray when the DirectV guys were on the roof.
Yikes - I thought you could get one of those kits without problem, just in the pharmacy.
I go to the doctor once a year for my annual GYN check up............and I don't see her dealing with this particular problem.
The fleas have been absolutely horrific this year. You name it we've tried it to deal with the problem. While we haven't cured the problem, we have put a major hurting on it.
You'll get a kick out of this....on another message board one of the anti-smokers made a statement about my parental abilities because of the battle with the fleas....the inference being that as a smoker I'm an irresponsible parent because I have permitted fleas into the house. What being a smoker and having fleas in the house have to do with each other is beyond me. But such is the mindset of the anti-smokers.
I had thought you could get the kits too, without a doctor visit and a prescription but NO. I never go to the doc, wxcept fpr the annual girl stuff and neither does hubby, so I hate to go down and ask for a prescription.
I have sprayed poison all over the place and weed killer and the mayflies are still so thick you need a paddle to walk across the yard.
I cut the grass two days ago and it was like riding a motorcycle without a helmet and picking the bugs out of my hair and off my clothes.
LOL about the fleas. Our dogs sleep in the house and you have to kick their asses to get them out. One whould think that the "SECOND HAND SMOKE" would kill the fleas. No. My beautiful blonde lab is nearly bald from chomping herself and rubbing her hind end on the fence.
The kids had perfect attendance at school last year inspite of the eeeeeviiiiiill SECOND HAND SMOKE!
Wait just a daggoned minute.....SHS kills on contact......it is absolutely impossible for either of us to have any type of insects anywhere near our homes, let alone inside them because of this.
ROFLMAO!!!!
Hubby cut a bunch of the grass this evening....he's of the mind that the more "gardens" I put in the less grass he has to cut.
My poor old girl(she's 11) is just finally getting back the hair she had chomped out because of the fleas. Her father was a black lab and her mother a Chesapeake....she's a big girl.
While I know I "should" do the shoes, socks, long pants, etc when I am working in the garden it's just not going to happen.
I've got more than 400 plants that I have to weed around tomorrow morning...........I will have shoes on but I will also have on shorts and the minimum type of top that I can get away with.
COOL on the perfect attendance - mine missed 1 day and so didn't get the perfect attendance this year.
In 12 years of school I only missed perfect attendance 3 times...........and both my parents smoke.
LOL-thanks for the ping! I'm here to say that my dh smoked from the age 14 until about 35. No complaints here in the "size" department. lolol. These people are INSANE!
Understatement of the evening!!!!!!!!!
Take out the rubbish.
Yethhh, my Dove.
They know it's not true. But they are hoping the general non-smoking public will believe it's true. ugh!
You should be a witness to this Partnership for a Tobacco Free Maine TV ad they hired teen-agers to put together.
Same old chit.......snaggly yellow teeth, dirty stringy hair.....you get the picture.
And all funded by the taxes smokers in Maine spend when they purchase cigarettes.
Back at ya, Madame Dufarge!!!
That frog sure tickles me, though. hehe!
I'm just thankful that we had so many years of being able to go to restaurants and bars and relax and spend the money.
I haven't been to my favorite Tavern since January's smoking ban was forced. Pity. I really miss it......but.......it's my time and my dime.
hehe ! :^D
Yours in tobacco smoke,
D-Back
You're not missing anything - it has been a bit quiet this week.
here's the link for the past puff_list indexed articles.
Thankfully both She Lion and JaJ have extensive ping lists...............I just go by memory when notifying folks of articles.
I've already queried John Robinson about it.
Told him I have, almost, every article back to June 2001 if he needs them as reference.
I haven't found anything to post this week.
