The real deal
Linda Ronstadt's current tour 'a history lesson of music' reflects her dedication to authenticity, and quality By George Varga July 15, 2004 Other singers may have a greater passion for music than Linda Ronstadt. But few have a greater passion for more types of music, or the willingness to perform them, even at the risk of falling on her face.
"My career has befuddled other people, and it's befuddled me," admitted Ronstadt, 58, who finds her fans are polarized by her nightly on-stage salute to "Fahrenheit 9/11" filmmaker Michael Moore.
"I've been dedicating a song to him I think he's a great patriot and it splits the audience down the middle, and they duke it out," she said.
"This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down. It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."
"I saw a movie recently about a camel and these people in Mongolia, and I relate to them better than people here in this country. It looks like (Germany's) Weimar Republic to me here."

I like liberals who understand themselves to be heathens, collectively. It's like the Darwin fish. I like it when evolutionists realize that they are religous in their belief. Now to convince my family that they are in the heathen party.
Then shut the ***HECK*** up!
Wait a minute. Who getting paid here? I don't work for the enjoyment of it. I may enjoy some of my work but that in not my motivation. Ronstadt's job is entertainment. If she's a show business she should know how to entertain an audience not the other way around. I sounds like she is saying "I no longer know my job."
They could turn up almost anywhere. Even at a pop concert.
Time for some Ronstadt lyrics from a song she did about 200 lbs. ago:
Saccharine, whinny voice sings:
"UUUUUU Here we are
(Uninteligible) to the beat of a different drum,
Oh can't yew tell by the way I run
Everytime yew make eyes at me?
(Goes on for interminable length.)
. . . And we'll both live a lot longer
If yew live without me. (Sappy orchestral conclusion.)"
Good advice from the horses's mouth. Counsel Republicans and Christains would be well advised to heed in the future.
I know, lets all us Christians and Republicans go to the next Ronstadt concernt sporting our "Jesus died for you and me" and "Bush/Cheney 04" tee shirts.
"When I look out in the audience and see a Jew or a Black, I feel uncomfortable." That would cause an outcry in the mainstream press, but not this.
Another kooked out celeb. She doesn't need to perform for this Christian Republican. When are the rest of the Dems (Christians, moderates )going to wake up? Michael as GP (great patriot) When elephants fly.
vaudine
Notice to Linda about fundamentalist Christians and Republicans: they look just like you and me; they might be your brother or sister or son. They might be your co-worker. They might be your next door neighbor. And they vote."
Well, that's ok with me. I won't support her, or her music.
One of my local radio stations played her comments about MM and her being "escorted off the premesis". And this was a progressive top 40 station!
Wow!
This seems to be a "don't let the door hit ya" on the way out kinda day.
"This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down. It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."
Thanks Ms. Ronstadt for pointing out your rambling irrational logic. But we already knew you were just another "confused" and doped up circle jerkin liberal. One too many acid trips for dimbulb Ronstadt too. You and your entertainment ilk are ONLY concerned about your clouded enjoyment thus you'd rather not know the audiences religious or political beliefs(not that it's any of YOUR BUSINESS ANYWAY) when it is THEY (the consumer) who's PAYING YOU (made YOU rich) to perform not lecture them. Gawd she's truly an imbecile of the first degree.
"Ah, liberal tolerance on display."
Yep by their rules, by their laws. They've self proclaimed themselves to be Americas judge, jury and verdict.
Well goodness me!
Glad I'm not the only one to think that if someone broaches a subject, it becomes open for debate.
The problem is that these type of people can't debate.
Once they have been so generous with their opinion, we are to applaud and bow.
When we don't... they become angry, hateful, and irrational to the point of insanity.
You couldn't get near them with a FACT unless you covered it in chocolate.
Ms. Ronshidt can go to hell as she pleases.
So, apparently she would have no problem if members of the audience just stood up and lambasted Mr. Moore. True, people did not come to her show to hear the political views of the audience members. However, the majority of them did not come to hear her political views either.
Honey, they paid to hear you sing. An honest person provides the customer what they paid for, they don't "bait and switch".
ole linda appears to have had more than her share of chocolate covered facts.... ; )
"I wonder how many Christians and Republicans paid perfectly good money for her albums?
"
Exactly, scum like Ronstadt never have any problems taking money from the so called people they so dispise in order to keep them in their lavish lifestyles.
I would never accept money from a known drug kingpin or pimp. It would go against my ethical standards and if my standards seem too high or holier than thou for some, TOUGH SH*T ... then just keep walkin on by.
