July 20, 2004 -- WASHINGTON — Former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger is the focus of a criminal probe after he removed highly classified terrorism documents from a secure reading room while preparing for the Sept. 11 commission hearings. The ex-Clinton administration official's home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI agents armed with warrants after he voluntarily returned documents to the National Archives.
But some drafts of a sensitive, after-action report critical of the Clinton administration's handling of al Qaeda terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing.

Since he is a left-wing democrat and is shielding Clinton nothing will happen to him. "It is just personal and should not be considered when going about his business" as the democrats say.
Berger was trying to hide documents that were embarrassing to him and to Clinton. It's as simple as that.
Serial documents are the key here.
"The New York Times has a Reuter story on this but nothing else. The whole issue seems front page and needing criminal prosecution. My guess is the Pubbies and this Administration will do nothing and, also, give the RATS a pass. This could be big news and a fatal blow to the Kerry campaign since Berger is one of his principal counselors."

Let's look at what may really be going on here.
A few days ago John Kerry announced he intended to seek a new intelligence czar with cabinet rank. About two days after that the 9/11 commission releases some preliminary recommendations including -- you guessed it -- creating a new new intelligence czar with cabinet rank. Did John Kerry have advance knowledge of that recommendation? Probably.
Sandy Berger is an "adviser" to the John Kerry campaign. Kerry has been trying to gain traction with his claim that the Bush administration should have known about airport and port security and it was the fact that they did not improve security that led to 9/11 (conveniently ignoring the facts that the report was of litterally thousands which dated back to the Clinton administration.) Was Berger lifting classified documents for the Kerry campaign in a Watergate type operation? Before you say that's outrageous remember that John Kerry's brother and another individual were arrested in Kerry's first campaign for Congress for breaking into the headquarters of the other candidate. And what was John Kerry's response? He pioneered the defense later used by the mayor of Washington DC (Marion Berry) by claiming they were set up!
Fascinating info on skerry's brother - do you have a link? I'm certain it would have made front page news somewhere and would today. yeah right.

This leaves May, June, and parts of Apriland July -- three months in all -- during which Berger knew he had been caught and was still a top Kerry advisor.
So the question is, what did Kerry know, and when did he know it? Why is this guy still part of the Kerry campaign?
...who BTW now has a thief (Berger) and a liar (Wilson) as advisors.
