I didn't hear the interview, but Hewitt thereafter, when I did hear him, was gushing with praise about Drier (the most powerful man representing California in the Congress, the smartest, etc). Hewitt is very partisan. I don't know if it is an act, or a firmly held belief, but his political analysis is often quite silly, and wrong. But I like Hugh nonetheless. It should be interesting.
Because replacing Dreier with a liberal Democrat -- one who, contrary to John & Ken's insistence to the contrary, likely WILL be difficult to unseat once an incumbent -- will SO improve the situation on immigration! NOT.
John & Ken would be good surgeons in the clinic of Cut Off Nose To Spite Face, LLP.
(Not that I'm terribly concerned for Dreier. He won his 2002 race by over a 30-percentage-point margin.)
John & Ken are pissing in the wind with this stunt. Anybody they target will easily win reelection. Instead, they should be firing up the troops to hold the feet of Supervisors Antonovich and Knabe to the fire to prevent either one of them from voting to put a sales tax increase initiative on the ballot. This is where the populism of John & Ken can do the most damage. Rumor has it that the Board of Supes will again delay their vote and probably won't vote on the issue until right before the early August deadline.

Not to mention they both disagreed with Laura Ingraham on the speakers at the convention. Laura never stated that any of the speakers should not have been invited; just that it would have been nice to have ONE cultural conservative.
She suggested Rick Santorum. I will be at the convention, and would love to see Star Parker. What happened to diVERsity?
Sorry; off topic, but I sent my contribution to Randy Graf, who is running in the primary against pro-illegal immigration congressman (among other things) Jim Kolbe.
I hate David Dreier. I am glad I am not alone .
I have to say thought he is not as bad as the majority of the NY reps (that is not saying much)

I'm all for knocking off John and Ken
They say that Democrats are so firmly in place that they won't try to remove any even though they say Democrats are the problem here in CA.
They say they want to go after someone from the Republican party instead because they feel they can bump one off.
Being they know Democrats are the worst on the issue, but are instead going after Republicans, I consider that Republicans being under attack for NO REASON.
John and Ken were partially responsible for helping to remove the Democrat Davis, and being that was going after a major Democrat, this is a balancing act for them to go now after a Republican so they look more bipartisan.
They are full of cr@p and their sponsors need to be hammered until they drop John and Ken.

If John and Ken get one of these or all of these to go along with them, they better fight it out tooth and nail to get them elected.
The one to go after would be Bonnie Garcia, if J&K wanted a challenge. They would never get her to go along.
I wouldn't say he's weak on it, exactly- he's simply on the other side, like his pal Dreier. The flood coming over the border doesn't affect their yuppie neighborhoods, and as long as it doesn't inconvenience them they see it as an opportunity for advancing their personal interests.
