Governor's slur elicits anger but no regrets
Schwarzenegger blames Democratic 'girlie-men' for budget holdup.

LOS ANGELES – A spokesman for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Sunday that the governor would not apologize for calling lawmakers "girlie-men," despite Democrats' complaints that the remark was sexist and homophobic.
Schwarzenegger said during a rally Saturday at an Ontario mall that Democrats were delaying the budget by catering to special interests.
"If they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests ... if they don't have the guts, I call them girlie-men," he said.
The governor lifted the term from a long-running "Saturday Night Live" skit in which two Schwarzenegger- worshipping weightlifters use it to mock those who don't meet their standards of physical perfection.
Democrats said his remarks were insulting to women and gays.
"It's kind of clichéd to equate girlie-men with gay men. That might have been the mind-set from the '70s, but we, at least we at Log Cabin, we don't see that as being homophobic," said Christopher Gilbertson of the Log Cabin California State Political Action Committee, a gay and lesbian Republican organization.
"(Critics) are just looking for any statement from the governor so they can whack him with it," he said.

I hate to say this, but Ahnuld has no room to speak. If he is bashing Demoncrats, then he is basically bashing himself. He is only a Republican by title and by no other means at all. He has consistently been liberal in his beliefs. He is pro gay marriage, pro abortion, antigun and so on and so on. I dont even know why he titles himself as a Republican... HE is the girlie man....

It was hilariously funny, on Saturday Night Live, when Arnold was parodied by Dana Carvey and what's his name, and they repeatedly used the phrases "girlie-man" and "pump you up". So Arnold does a little turnabout, and makes a parody of a parody, calling the wussies in the California legislature "girlie-men" and it passes over their heads entirely.
Now, not so funny. At least not to the counter-culture types, but that is only because they believe themselves to be so far above criticism, that it is somehow blasphemy to nudge them with their inconsistencies.
Don't back down, Arnold. They really ARE "girlie-men".

There's a WEE bit of irony in gays and metros throwing a hissy at being called "girlie men". Perhaps it's the "men" par that has them in such a snit. If Arnie had called them b*tches, they'd be pleased at the concession that they're obstructive tactics are winning.
