Rumsfeld's low profile questioned (CNN desperate to get Bush to admit he made a mistake)

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, for years the most public face of the Bush administration's war on terrorism, has suddenly become scarce.

Burdened by the Iraq prisoner abuse scandal and constrained by the presidential election campaign, the Pentagon chief who spearheaded the Afghanistan and Iraq wars has been relegated to a less visible role.

Once seemingly in danger of being fired over the prisoner abuse, Rumsfeld appears to have survived. Yet some wonder whether the White House might still conclude he is a political liability and prefer he leave this summer.

"Donald Rumsfeld has gone from being the most popular spokesperson for the Bush administration policies to something of a pariah," said Loren Thompson of the Lexington Institute, a think tank.

"Whereas before the White House was happy to see him speaking in public whenever he chose, now it kind of cringes for fear of what the results might be," Thompson added.

Why wouldn't Rumsfeld have a low profile? He's not the President. My question is about Kerry's low profile. Edwards seems to be getting all the attention. Kerry's profile is at about the same level as Hillary's.

I don't care what the press or the left say.
RUMMY IS THE MAN!

Isn't it nice of the Libs to tell Bush that Rummy is a liability?

Of course, if he really was a liability, they would want him to stick around for the election.

I' rather see "Wilson Lied - President Told The Truth!"

The AP and CNN would rather die.

rumsfeld did a good job in afghanistan.

the iraq war against saddam's army again was a stunning military success.

I seriously doubt, if a person that high in command would have known about the prison abuse scandal

Since early May Rumsfeld has conducted 12 news conferences or media appearances at home and abroad, eight public speeches, seven television or radio interviews and two public congressional hearings.

Usually, when writing an article, if you come across a concrete fact that proves false the entire premise of the article, it’s best to trash the article and find something else to write about.

That is of course, unless you have some agenda beyond reporting actual news events.

Having failed to create an issue around Cheney where none existed, the liberal media has now moved on the Rumsfeld.

If I had to guess, it'll most likely be that Powell is planning on leaving the administration. Can these "mediots" be any more obvious?

"Isn't it nice of the Libs to tell Bush that Rummy is a liability?"

Rummy just needs to announce, "Let anyone among you who can do it better...step forward.

This man walked into a hornets nest after 9/11. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders, and the press gets huffy because he won't come out and play? Especially, when he knows it's just going to be a bunch of rude, shouting, morons who only want to talk about Abu prison...ancient history by now.

He essentially has two wars going on, and doesn't have time to sit around and answer questions for the press. If there is dissention about the war, it's the media that has caused it, and they are only trying to use Rummy to dig up some more dirt, or spin his remarks against him.

I wouldn't be available for them either.

Not so. I saw him on Fox just this weekend. The enemy
press must be getting testy because he won't talk to
THEM.

Even Fox tossed Rummy an "opportunity to confess"
question. He wisely avoided the trap.
