Cal, the way you phrased your question does not make logical sense!
Casey found the Arabic messages in May of 2003, machine translated them in May of 2003 and posted them on IH in May of 2003!
IHers find the posts and translate them pretty quickly. They do not hold on to them. Again, both messages are day and time stamped. Can't get any more cut and dried than that. Ajeeb translates dates pretty well. The date on both messages is the same time period give or take a day or so that they were first posted on IH already translated. The dates are the Arabic post dates.
They have not been lifted on the Arabic forums anew. Just like at TM and NEIN and everywhere else, archives are kept for some info and some past info gains new relevance. The biggest tragedy at IH is that alot of posts vanished due to a few recent site upgrades. Many earlier posts are gone. When I am searching for an old post that I can vagely recall, it is very difficult to locate, and sometimes what I am looking for was no doubt lost in an upgrade. I am ecstatic that Casey found the 2 code messages. I had been trying to locate them for a long time. The IH search function is miserable even when the document has not been lost.
At the time -- back in 5/2003 -- the messages were significant to me because it is clear that al qaeda's communications were coded. Unsurprising, because they are a formidable enemy! What do their various numbers mean? Forget about their code "words," for a moment, their messages contain alot of numbers. Just like the code developed by nations at war throughout the ages; al qaeda followed suit.
Casey translates from the Arabic, if that is what you mean. Using Ajeeb probably. Many times -- for some posts -- the original Arabic is included so someone with a native tongue of Arabic can come along and give it a better human translation if the posts seem crucial enough. That did not happen with these 2 posts, unfortunately.
Also, Casey is as honest an ace as our Cindy. Casey would never be accused of tampering. ;)
