Heinz Kerry Bankrolling GOP Convention Ruckus?

Sunday, July 18, 2004 3:53 p.m. EDT Heinz Kerry Bankrolling GOP Convention Ruckus?

At least one of the left wing groups traveling to New York City next month in a bid to disrupt the Republican Convention has accepted money from a philanthropic foundation with financial ties to Teresa Heinz Kerry.

The Ruckus Society has been training demonstrators for months in the kind of street tactics that could turn the GOP's August confab into a security nightmare.

"When you're protesting in New York City, you're definitely in the big leagues," Ruckus Society director John Sellers said last month while discussing his convention preparations. Sellers' past comments are one reason New York City officials are on edge about plans by radicals to disrupt the proceedings.

After riots organized by the Ruckus Society shut down the city of Seattle during a meeting of the World Trade Organization in 1999, Sellers told Mother Jones Magazine:

"I make a distinction between violence and destruction of property. Violence to me is against living things. But inanimate objects? It may be violence under the law but I just don't think it's violence."

Although Ruckus protested both Republican and Democratic conventions in 2000, this year the group will be focusing exclusively on the GOP.

"Everybody is concerned first and foremost with getting the Bush administration out of office," Sellers told the Boston Globe last December.

Why the shift away from bipartisan protest?

Some say Ruckus' decision to spare the Kerry-Edwards campaign may have something to do with a cash grant from the Tides Foundation, an environmental advocacy group heavily funded by charities controlled by would-be first lady Teresa Heinz Kerry.

The Heinz foundation gave more than $4 million to Tides over a seven-year period, according to a study by the Washington-based monitoring group The Capital Research Center.

Tides, in turn, funneled at least $39,000 to Ruckus starting in 1999 - and continued to bankroll the protest group's operations even after the Seattle riots.

To be sure, Ruckus is just one of many radical organizations hoping to turn the GOP's party into a disaster.

But while most protesters plan to adhere to the principal of "non-violent disruption," at least one organizer is urging the adoption of a particularly dangerous tactic - advising anonymously over the internet on how to distract the NYPD's bomb-sniffing police dogs.

On Saturday, New York Congressman Peter King called on the Kerry campaign to denounce the plan, which he said would make it "much easier for terrorists to be successful" in any planned attack on the city during the convention.

Neither Sen. Kerry or Sen. Edwards has responded to King's comments.

shouldn't law enforcement or the FBI look into that? The Tides Foundation - or Mrs. Kerry's money will also found the lawyers for those arrested during the GOP convention. there is also something weird about Mrs. Kerry - Hezbollah, and the Tides Foundation

Elliott Spitzer of New York needs to look long and hard at Tides Foundation and indict them. They are definately part of a conspiracy, IMO.
Destruction of "property" isn't VIOLENCE????? WTF??? Where does this guy live? I'll do destruction to HIS PROPERTY and see if his feelings stay the same? Where do these people live? What do they own? What is in the treated drinking water that makes them have brain cells that come up with these ideas????

Places and people who suffered damage and harm should especially be able to sue any organizing people or organization, which had anything to do with inciting riots.

This is a Homeland Defence issue. These maggots are partially funded by Heinz/Kerrey? Very interesting.

See http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/tides.asp

They claim that Kerry/Heinz are not responsible
for what the Tides Foundation does.

Could there be money laundering? Naw!

""I make a distinction between violence and destruction of property. Violence to me is against living things. But inanimate objects? It may be violence under the law but I just don't think it's violence.""

There goes that guy's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Violence against liberty is violence against life. Violence against someone else's property is violence against the pursuit of happiness, ergo, violence against life. They are all inter-connected. Somebody coral the ruckus ones before they injur themselves and hurt others. What a bunch of clymers. A herd of mental midgets who think that languishing in a jail cell nursing a bruised body makes life worth the living.

UnFriggenBelievable. First, the NYPD should be made of aware of these home grown terrorists. Second, Mrs. Ketchup and her idiot husband need to be held accountable for finanicially supporting this group of thugs. Third, everyone needs to be made aware of this organization and their terrorist tactics.

Any of these cretins that step out of line need to be dealt with harshly. Not a fine, probation, or other slap-on-the-wrist measures, but hard time, preferrably in a 8 x 8 cell with a hairy 300lb. hommaseckshul.

I am wondering why the cord that runs between Mrs. HK has not been more fully examined or followed. . .or why it is just being ignored.

We almost 'got there' with 'Peaceful Tomorrows' but then 'nothing'.

In commenting on THK's mega million/billions; whatever; as of late; have only heard such comments and yes, Fox News and O'Reilly. . .offering wimpy 'she is very philanthropic'. . .'she donates to many charitable organizaions'. . .end of story . . .that's it!

No mention of how the Heinz Foundation is a feeder for the 'Tides Foundation" which in provides for all kinds of radical Left enviromental/anti-war/Arab (CAIR) and Muslim 'activities'.

So we have the wife. . .and by association - her husband; 'white-house resident wannabe's. . .'; who are in fact 'Marxist-Left-wingers; irectly and indirectly collaboratiang with the Left's 'anti-America' contingencies; while making their 'appeal' to middle-class values. . .

It is an amazing thing to behold - even more amazing is the relative silence to what should be a 'national scream' by now.

He may think he's anonymous, but you can be sure the FBI knows exactly who the poster is and will be monitoring his every move from now until after Inauguration Day.

Notice that in this case, Snopes simply posts a direct statement from the head of the Heinz Endowments (In most cases, the pair that runs Snopes does their own research.) That guy works for Tuh-RAY-zuh. And they take his word at face value with no attempt made to confirm its accuracy.

I don't know if all the allegations in the specific mass-emailing posted on Snopes are true or not, but the basic claim is correct.

If this is so it makes the Katsup Queen an enemy of the State, for funding terrorists. You are either with us or against us! I still can't find any reliable information on when and where she became an American citizen although a biography of her (the only one in Google) says she became one when she married the Republican Senator in 1971. As distainful of America and Americans as she is I am curiouser and curiouser. Said she didn't know why she ever married and American. I know why, MONEY.
