I will reply to you. The phrase I hear most often from prisoners (Black, White and whatever)is: "I've been set up. I'm innocent." I have never met a felon who thinks he/she is guilty. THE PRISONS MUST BE FULL OF INNOCENT PEOPLE!!! Meanwhile we (the staff) spend our time trying to keep them from KILLING EACH OTHER AND THEMSELVES!!! These innocent, simple, sweet people like to put out contracts on each other and sometimes the staff, and try to practice their gang behaviors there. Staff are often assigned on a 1:1 basis to keep them out of trouble while in the general mix, because the Psychologists say they need Milieu Therapy, and safety is paramount. While my experience is Mental Health, it happens on a more limited basis in regular minimal and moderate level correctional facilities.(Remember some prisons are rated by the escape potential of the felons they house).
