Bainbridge Island has done the right thing. Finally. The mayor of the community, six miles west of Seattle, has apologized for the way a U.S. veteran of the Iraq war was treated during a holiday parade there.

who needs video. I live in Washington. I can tell you exactly what happened. Some morons showed us their intelligence by insulting the persons who protect their right to protest. Bush hating is like a trend here in Washington, it sucks living in such a liberal state where I have to put up with endless liberal nonsense. The actions of a few do not represent the whole. Along the line there will always be the classless few but in todays standards it is becoming the many. I apologize for the hippies who are uneducated and misguided. Washingtonians appreciate the selfless dedication of every soldier, god bless you and thank you.
The northern most portion of the lower fortry eight, has always been the gateway to the twilight zone. Not for those heading north to Alaska or west, but for those who stayed in the state of Washington.
The abuse heaped upon this young American warrior, is inexcusable. Having been born and raised there though, he should have been prepared for such a greeting.
Just as many US troops returning from duty in Vietnam were greeted by being spat upon by liberal sonovabitches in Seattle, as in Commie ports in Oregon and California.
Thank's Gilson, for your courage, dedication to duty and the many sacrifices and pains you suffered for your country. You are a Patriot, and this old man salutes you. It was those of your Ilk that created America, made America great, and defended her from enemies without, as well as enemies within-especially from enemies within.
The enemies within our very own country, probably despise you more than the enemies without, but don't let that depress you, that enemy was the most dangerous threat to our fore-father's as well, and the most decietful.
Thank you for posting this article. I just sent an e-mail to Gilson also. This is a horrible way to treat someone who has sacrificed everything for our country. Sometimes, people behave like animals. It really angers me. I will pass this on to everyone that I know!

Ditto, and don't it feel great to be able to let him know, from all over the country that we think he's great? I told him to visit us here for all the support he can handle.
Message sent on behalf of myself and my relatives from the American Revolution onward.
Dwyer added: "I believe (Jason's) mom when she said her son was called 'a murderer.' But I'm sure it wasn't so much directed at the kid as it was the president. A soldier with a sign represents that."
And you are the Bainbridge's executive director of the island's Chamber of Commerce?
Sounds like a place I would NEVER want to visit.
Shame on you!
Just to clarify, this was sent to Dwyer -- not the soldier.
I sent Jason a personal letter thanking him for his service.
"I live in Washington. I can tell you exactly what happened."
Me, too, and you don't even have to. I'm glad Jamison bothered to write about this, even though his column is usually filled with the sort of liberal tripe I've come to expect from the P.I. What I'd really like is an e-mail address for the announcer/cow who gave Gilson a hard time during the parade. She needs about 10,000 angry responses to fill up her mailbox.
Email sent!
Thanks for posting this. I just sent off my e-mail thanking him for his fine service to our country! God bless him!
Veteran Bump!!!!
Done!
No, he would be politely applauded and thanked for his service to our country and freedom.
