"Here’s what Accuracy in Media's courageous Reed Irvine wrote last week:"

Reed Irvine had a massive stroke months ago. Here's what his son had to say about his condition recently.

June 20, 2004

Father's Day Reflection by Don Irvine

As I sit in my hotel room in Seoul, Korea, I can't help but think of my father thousands of miles away in Maryland. I would love to call him and wish him a happy Father's Day, but I can't. It isn't because of the 13 hour time difference either. It is because he is in a nursing home recovering from a stroke.

It has been nearly 6 months since my father Reed Irvine suffered a massive stroke while eating dinner at home. In that time I have learned a lot about the debilitating effects of strokes and the dramatic change in the quality of life for my father.

Let me tell briefly tell you about my father. He was born on September 29, 1922 and was the youngest of 5 children born to William and Edna Irvine. He went to the University of Utah where in addition to studying economics he wrestled, earning him the nickname "Killer". After college he was drafted and served in the Navy and Marine Corps. during WWII. He was sent to Japanese language school in Boulder, Colorado and using his newly learned language spent much of the war interrogating prisoners of war. After the war he helped in the relief effort in Nagasaki, Japan and met my mother. They were married on August 14, 1947.

My father then took my mother to Oxford, Englandafter he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship. After his schooling was done he moved to Washington, D.C. and started working for the Federal Reserve as an economist. With his language skills he was able to travel top Japan and Korea often and met with officials of the Bank of Japan and Bank of Korea on behalf of the Fed. He worked at the Fed until 1977 when he retired to devote his attention to Accuracy In Media which he founded in 1969. From that point until the time of his stroke he worked tirelessly for the cause and led AIM to many successes including numerous on the air corrections by the major media.

As a father he was my idol. He believed strongly in character, honesty and integrity and lived his life with these virtues in mind. He taught me these principles and I have tried teaching them to my own children. He also showed great love and compassion when my mother broke her hip in November of 2003 by staying by her side day after day in the hospital for the time it took her to recover. His devotion was so great that he only returned to the office at my urging once he felt my mother was well enough to get around at home. Even then he wouldn't spend a full day in the office. This was remarkable for a man that before his nearly fatal heart attack at the beginning of 2003 would frequently work 12-14 hour days and go to the office on weekends as well.

Now unfortunately things are very different. He spends most of his day in bed and sleeps a lot. He is fed mostly through a tube in his stomach, though he can eat small portions of baby food. Most disheartening to me is that I have noticed short term memory loss which isn't unusual for stroke victims, but wasn't apparent before.

I am grateful for friends and colleagues who have taken time to visit my father on a regular basis and keep encouraging him. I think it does make a difference. I am also grateful that he was lucky enough to have lived a very full life and make a contribution to society. He has surely left his mark. For those of you reading this I hope you have been as blessed as I have been to have a father like mine. May you honor your father as I will honor mine. Accuracy In Media

I, for one, have NEVER believed the "center fuel tank exploding" scenario. I, too, thought the CIA video was not only ludicrous but absolutely perverse to the laws of BASIC HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS......My first thoughts that night were of either a mid-air collision or an anti-aircraft missile.

Jack Cashill is a good friend of mine. He invited me to a presentation with Jim Sanders in 2000. I went relucently, because I tend to discount conspiracy theories. I doubted what I heard at first, but it did concern me when I heard how the government treated Jim Sanders and his wife. During the question and answer session one man stood up and said, "There are 38 retired 747 captains in this room, and everyone of us agrees the center fuel tank exploding did not bring down the plane. The plane would have been mortally wounded if the tank exploded, but it would have come down much slower." That got my attention, and I talked to a friend of mine who is a rocket engineer, and former F-14 Top Gun. He said, "An exploding fuel tank did not bring down that plane."

At the FIRO hearing, Meyer spoke about the streak he saw: "I tracked it across about twenty degrees of azimuth in the sky and then...I saw an explosion. And that explosion was military ordinance. I'll stake my life on it, and I have many times. I have two years in combat over North Vietnam. I hold the distinguished flying cross. I made nine over-land rescues. If I don't know what a missile looks like, if I don't know what flak looks like, I wouldn't be here talking to you. I saw military ordinance explode in the sky that night."

I think this guy is credible. He was major flying in a BlackHawk at the time.

Why would he lie?

Why should we not believe what he says he saw and yet believe you when you where not there and saw nothing.?

Why should we believe you and the people who agree with you and not believe him and the other eye witnesses who general agree with him and what he saw.

I don't believe he did lie. In fact, I believe he described the events that night very precisely. Have you actually read the transcript of his interview with the NTSB. It is located at this site...

http://twa800.com/witnesscd/AppendixO.pdf

In it, he describes a streak of light that flies a slightly descending arc for about 3-5 seconds. He states several times that he doesn't know what it was. It resolved into a fireball that fell in the same arc into the water. The fireball was preceeded by up to three "hard explosions" he describes as looking like flak. I too have flown in combat. I've been shot at by SAM's and AAA. Myers description of a "Flak" explosion is confused. When AAA explodes at altitude in daylight, it appears as a ball of smoke. No flash or flame at all really. A missile warhead creates a more visible flash, but Meyers says he saw three "hard explosions". Were there three missiles? If all three were "hard explosions", how could they all be "military ordinance"?

He then goes on to describe his experience witnessing SAM launches in Vietnam. He says he's seen SAM-1, SAM-2 and SAM-7 launches. The SAM-1 was never used anywhere but to defend Moscow, so I'm pretty sure he never saw that one, but we'll let that slide. But he very specifically describes how you can identify a SAM by its smoke trail and erratic flightpath. He accurately states that you can see the smoke trail long after the missile is gone. But he then specifically says the streak of light he saw left no smoke trail, and it didn't fly an erratic flight path.

So if Fred Meyers is the most credible missile witness, the missile theory is even weaker than most people realize. Meyers didn't lie. He certainly, by his own testimony, did not describe a missile attack. He almost exactly described the breakup sequence of the self-destructing 747.

Here's an article on the Russian SA-7 you may find interesting .Seems the FBI already believe they have been used more than once in the past, by terriorsts.

I didn't know these things where that available. http://216.26.163.62/2003/guest_holton_12_30.html

SA-7's have been blamed for taking down several smaller airliners. Most recently, one struck a DHL A-300 taking off from Baghdad. The aircraft returned to the airport and landed. But Meyers accurately described the smoke trail of an SA-7 as being a corkscrew that remains long after the missile has hit its target. Furthermore, his discription of the descending arc of the streak of light he observed implies whatever he saw was flying a descending flightpath. SA-7's fly a pure pursuit flightpath directly toward their target. Not an up and over flightpath. The absence of a smoketrail and the flightpath discription Meyer's gives rules out the SA-7 as a source of TWA800's demise.
