OT- I need your Help, ASAP (I included some pictures)
Posted on 07/15/2004 11:28:00 AM PDT by markv840
Hello fellow FReepers,
I need you help, not on a political issue, but on a personal one. First let me Give you a little background on the matter; Rusty is my neighbors dog, I often take care of him (the dog, not the neighbor). Rusty is everything youd want a dog to be like, playful, loving, smart, great with children, healthy, and a Republican :o); unfortunately, hes also homeless; my neighbor is moving TODAY and Rustys going to a shelter; unfortunately, hes only got 5 days before they put him down.
I already have two dogs of my own and I cannot take in another one; I would love nothing more that to keep him, but I cant. If you live in southern California, and you would like to adopt Rusty (or if you know someone who would), you can email me at dogaddict2004@yahoo.com, reply to this post, or FReep mail me.
-Mark
PS- Check out the pictures. Id love it if a FReeper gets to take him home. Thank you for taking the time.

You should have taken the dog with plans to find him a home instead of allowing him to be sent to the shelter. That way you could have contacted a Rescue organization and remained the dogs care taker until a home was found.

Adopt him temporarly, if you dog sit him, it won't be too much more of a stretch to find him a good home.
To: markv840
BUMP. Hope you find a good home for him.
He looks so much like my dog Elvis that it's amazing.

Bump for Rusty.

I agree with Phantom. Get him out of the Shelter ASAP, and try to find a rescue group. There are many of them.
Hope time doesn't run out for the pooch!

Take the dog, if you can. I'll look around on the web and see if there are no-kill shelters in your area. What city and county are you located in?
A no-kill shelter will take the animal in and will keep it until it's adopted. It helps to give them a donation, which I am willing to do.
Let's do what we can to save this beautiful, sweet dog.
Can you help us by taking the dog to a no-kill shelter if we find one?
I must say, you have rotten neighbors to be parting with a good friend like this. I'd take him, but we have three, and I just can't manage another dog.
Let us know what you're willing to do.

I can vouch for that. A little more food and a little more attention from you.
The other two dogs, as you know, will socialize the third dog and they'll keep each other company.
But let me know, in a private email if necessary, where you are.
