I remember playing Castle Wolfenstein 3D, but I really cut my teeth on the original DOOM. I would play for hours. I would get kinda sick too, from the 3D immersion effect or something. I called it "getting Doomed". I am hardly into Gaming anymore, but I'll probably pick up a copy of Doom III, just for old times sake.

I occasionally kill time with the first "Quake" or "Duke Nukem 3D." The Duke add-on "Duke It Out In DC" is a blast, except for one thing. The mission is to rescue Clinton, who has been abducted by aliens. Not much incentive there.

I played the original DOOM a lot. I'm into World War II first persons now, but I'm waiting for Half-Life 2, the first was the best I've played with a story line.

Wolfenstein 3D brings back fond memories for me. Reminds me of days when home computers were still a new concept and I was one of the first on my block to have one. I played that game for hours. Then Doom came along and I was instantly hooked. After that came Quake, around 1995 I believe.

Then I got hooked on political forums like this one and I haven't played a game since.

Still got the original disks from all that stuff around somewhere.

The Wolfenstein game you are referring to was probably "Wolfenstein 3-D"...it was really great in it's day. Last year they came out with "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"....anyone who loves these games and hasn't played that is really missing out. I was amazed at the realism and quality of "Return to Castle Wolfenstein".

Doom2 is almost endless, since zillions of new levels have been written by fans and posted on the internet. I still play Doom2 using the Doom 95 launcher. Doom 95 has better graphics!

Lots of levels have also been made for "Wolfenstein 3-D"...you can look them up. I tried it again about a year ago and it was still addicting.

Looks like the system requirements for Doom3 are going to be high. Got this off a site:

System Requirements for DOOM 3: A video card with at least 128MB RAM and Pixel Shader 1.1 support and a 2.5GHz CPU. Also DOOM 3 is expected to be on 4 cds and Multiplayer will include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Tournament and Last Man Standing.

I'm not much into gaming, but I do remember all the hype about doom way back when. At that time, I was into Bungie software's "Marathon." I remember hearing about how much better Doom was going to be. When it finally came out, I was extremely disappointed. It was nowhere near as good as Marathon. Neither Doom version I've seen has anywhere near as good a storyline as the Marathon series. I wish them luck on Doom III, but its going to have to be better than Halo 2 to go anywhere.

Publisher: Activision
Required: P4 1.5Ghz or equivalent, 384MB RAM, Radeon 9800 card (Certain GPUs - lowest level is GeForce3/GeForce4 MX)
We Recommend: 2Ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9800 card, five0-channel sound card and speakers.

Score: 94% (Editor's Choice)
Highs: "Extraordinary Graphics and sound; incerdible tension, atmosphere, and mayhem."

Gamespot.com has different movies and screenshots of the XBox version of Doom 3. Check it out.

I pay for it, so I don't know if it's available on the "Free" side.

The dooms got too hard to use. I'd rather download user written WAD's. City of Doom was quite nice.

And I wish they'd give us more Duke Nukem 3D. The first was really a hoot, and had a lot of secrets and problems. That game was alot of fun to play.

Could you please ping those interested in Doom 3 and tell them that www.doom3.com has finally been upgraded to show the full trailer?

I'm at work and don't have the time. Thanks.
