A few months ago the Democrats were jeering about ‘the Bush recession’. Then the recession ended. So they started jeering about ‘the jobless recovery’. Then the jobs kicked in. So now they’re moaning that the jobs ‘don’t pay enough’. Get the feeling this whole economy thing just isn’t going anywhere for them?

Mark Steyn is something else! This particular editorial gave me a Steynasm. The hamster Kerry thing is hilarious, but his description of President Bush was excellent as well:

Bush, meanwhile, is like some indestructible lab rat. They keep tossing some lethal new poison in there every week and he digests it all and keeps on going. The economy’s a bust! Iraq’s a quagmire! There are no WMD! But Bush just ploughs through it all, and in the end the dynamic of the race seems barely affected.

Do you reckon a Botoxicated Brahmin from Massachusetts with some pretty-boy ambulance-chaser is going to reverse Gore’s fortunes? I don’t. The Michael Moorification of the Democratic party boosts their numbers where they don’t need any more support — Boston, New York, plus Berkeley and a few other crazy college towns. But it doesn’t do anything for them in states where they could use a bump.

I may be reading too much into this, but the brilliant use of "Moorification" seems to be a double entendre (pardon my French) pursuant to both the beached whale of Hollywood and the much put upon Muslims he portrays.

From a previous Steyn piece.... part of Edwards stump speech concerned a 10-year-old girl, somewhere in America, praying it would be warmer tomorrow as she had no warm coat to wear. According to Steyn, you would have to have a heart of stone for that not to brings tears of laughter to your eyes!

Dang! Must have missed that one. Thanks mo much for filling me in.

Edwards is a loony.

Thanks for the ping.

This is just brilliant: "But to say that you believe in voting against what you believe because you don’t believe in believing in your beliefs is as close as you can get to admitting that the flip-flop perception is true: you stand for nothing; there’s no there there. "

Ever see "At Long, Last, Love" ? "Daisy Miller" ? Bogdanovitch kept trying to make a star out of her and making one bad movie after another. The studio precondition for backing "Nickleodeon" was... no Cybil Shepherd.

And Dorothy Stratten's husband was a hustler, pure and simple. Dorothy realized he was small potatoes and dumped him.

Dorothy Stratton was only a high school drop out working as a waitress in a Vancouver diner when she was spotted by one of Heff's sub-procurors. Invited to Hollywood to be a Playmate, she lived in Heff's mansion where he filled her head with dreams of stardom, money and easy street while he groomed her for her real role - mistress for one of Heff's many male friends who come to his monthly party to pick over the new stock. Heff had no time for minor details like marriages and the like and so he put her in a dangerous situation with a jealous husband. All the post murder blather about her husband being a worthless con artist is just so much spin to absolve them of their role in her death. Heff and Bogdanovitch thoughtlessly killed her as surely as if they helped her husband load the gun.

"But he’s not constantly trying to break out, unless he happens to be at a Hollywood fundraiser and a certain male movie star asks him back to his pad for a nightcap."

Hint ? Hint ?

"Hint ? Hint ?"

When I saw that, I had to read it 3 times slowly just to be sure he said what he did. I flashed back to that TV appearance with TerAYza trying to take hold of Kerry's hand and Kerry repeatedly pushing it away.
