As Bush arrived at the last night's rally of 8,000, someone in a crowd of pro-Kerry and anti-Bush protesters threw an empty plastic water bottle and hit his bus, which is armored.

Dennis Miller is a riot. I'm so glad he came over from the dark side to our side. He says 9/11 was his wake up call. I'm glad to see him do a a little campaigning for our President.

From a while back from Dennis:

My favorite Afghani war story is the Al Qaeda fighter who is crushed to death by the descending humanitarian food pallet. Everybody sitting around in the next life at the Psychotic Algonquin Roundtable swapping tales. What happened to you, Khalid? I saw a shadow, looked up, Del Monte cling peaches coming right at my head. I didn't even have the Kevlar turban on that day.

LOL

A couple of my favorite Millerisms:

"I would call the French scum bags, but that, of course, would be a disservice to bags filled with scum."

Denouncing anti-war protesters, Miller describes those who call everyone but Hussein a Hitler:
"The type you have at these parades seems to be the people who want to mislabel Hitler. Everybody in the world is Hitler. Bush is Hitler, Ashcroft is Hitler, Rumsfeld is Hitler. The only guy who isn't Hitler is the foreign guy with a mustache dropping people who disagree with him into the wood chipper. He's not Hitler."

Dennis Miller comes across as thoughtful and brainy. The dims come across as morons.

I could be wrong, but from the local news broadcast last night, Dennis Miller was not scheduled to be at the rally last night, but he was scheduled to be at a local venue. When he heard that President Bush would be in town at the same time, he called and offered his services to warm up the crowd while they waited. Wayne Newton was also there, and they had a performance video by Toby Keith.

I was so disappointed that I had to miss it, but it was a sell out. The pictures of the crowds were unbelievable. I can't wait to hear the estimates.

Dennis is stumping for Bush? Damn! I'm gonna have to watch his show. Love him, but he's up against FOX and it takes so much effort to change the channel....

I would marry Dennis if he was single. Smart and funny is a big turn on.

I don't think Miller ever totally needed a wake-up call. He may have been a shade drowsy on 9/10 but not totally asleep. At his most "leftist", he was probably a quasi-conservative Democrat. He was never a Michael Moore type.

That's not to say he's now a hardcore all around conservative. To hazard a guess, I'd say at this point he would place himself in the libertarian wing of the GOP.

We went to the taping of Miller's show on Friday, July 16. Great show that day, and Miller's rant re the gossip about dumping Cheney was priceless. CNBC treats the studio audience like crap before and after the show, but the actual taping is interesting.
