what seems goofy about this article is that the author brings up a very specific anti-Kerrey sentiment among his classmates along with specific reasons for those sentiments, then spends the rest of the article using generalities to paint an unflattering portrait of the school - and thus downplay the negatives toward Kerrey.
Notice he didn't attend a Catholic school, either.
I doubt whether Kerry's Catholicism was that much of a factor. One of the boys in my class at an Episcopal prep school was Catholic, and went to Mass in town on Sundays. He was eventually chosen as Head Prefect and was probably one of the most popular boys in the school, even though he was not a notable athlete, the usual grounds for popularity.
No, the problem with Kerry is that he is not clubbable. As you can see from looking at him and listening to him, he's an obvious narcissist, in love with himself. He's not a team player, as his refusal to pass the puck illustrates.
Moreover, his Kennedy accent is a fake, which he taught himself. He had presidential ambitions very early and put the accent on for that reason. Boys quickly recognize that kind of fakery.
Desperate to be accepted into WASP/Ivy subculture? Who knows what gawdy fantasies motivate such people. This would seem to explain some of Johnboy's woeful ignorance of Catholic matters. He was never educated properly in the faith. Sad. Pathetic.
Well, he got the St. Paul's diploma, the Yale degree and the silly macabre Skull&Bones initiation - fame & fortune. Fire and brimstone await...
And he got to screw Morgan Fairchild apparently. The things liberals trade Heaven away for...
Right. But I will give him a pass on the axxent. George Bush's accent is also an affectation. Compare the way he talks with the way the presnt governor, who also comes from West Texas, talks. I gather Bush cultivated his because he wanted to show where his heart lay. Incidentally, R.E. Lee's sons were sent to Yale but were never assimilated either.
And I really doubt that Kerry was ever very devout either, Robby. I don't think his classmates despised him (and still do forty years later) for his religion, his financial status or his family background (being a Massachusetts Forbes and a descendant of Plymouth Governor John Winthrop would trump most of them by far). Instead, I would bet its because he simply was not a likeable or trustworthy individual. He's certainly not now.
ping for later
Women do seem to find him attractive. I doubt that he will attract them the way Bill does. Wonder what it is about that boy?
Except Morgan Fairchild supposedly despises him now. I guess he cheated on her. Gee, ain't that ironic? Being cheated on by an adulterous liberal! I take it his push for stem cell research is because he wants a new prostate to get back out there in the bimbo, intern, and political groupies circuit.
Wow!
that explain his overly visionly affection towards edwards, kerry is a very lonely man within himself! it also explain his flip-flops, and for these reason, as they started long time ago - he will remain an outsider, and will never be President.
Right. He had--has-- what is called these days, "attitude."
My nephew is a captain of a charter boat. You are right.
Guess Hanoi John hasnt changed much in forty odd years.
Hee! Hee! If those bluebloods back then only knew the REAL truth about Kerry/Kohn's background that he kept carefully hidden.
