I have been making business calls (yes, I actually do work) but caught something on Hannity that was intriguing.
I think Sean was talking about an interview John Kerry had with a sports guy. Kerry was talking about being a big Boston Red Sox fan and goes back to the days of Eddie Yost. The problem is that Eddie Yost never played for the BOSOX. Here is his MAJOR LEAGUE RECORD
Can someone find a source for this?
Eddie was a Red Sox COACH. 1977-84.
the "sports guy" was Peter Gammons, from ESPN Baseball tonight.
I googled "Peter Gammons" "Kerry" but didn't come up with anything..may not have been in print.
So I'm sorry to say, Kerry isn't a blithering idiot in this case
Yes.. he doesn't even know who the players are. Kerry doesn't know BoSox and doesn't know BoTox.
I gotta defend JFK on this one. Kerry's being misquoted and I can't let it stand. What Kerry actually said is "I've been a fan of BOTOX, since the days of Eddie Yost".
Oh so that would have been AFTER Kerry served in Vietnam. You did hear that he was in Vietnam, didn't you?
Whoops I meant late 70's!

BOTOX!
The really stupid thing Kerry did regarding the Red Sox was talking about the Red Sox player "Manny Ortez." There's a Manny Ramirez, and a David Ortiz (with an I, not an E). But obviously, there's no Manny Ortez playing for the Red Sox. (Incidentally, if a Republican had made such an error, he'd probably be accused of racism for confusing two Dominican players.) A freeper thread on it is here:

Eddie Yost definitely never played for Boston. I can't, however, find the interview where Kerry said he was a big fan of the Bosox during the Yost years.
If he referred to the coaching days of Yost, then he gets a pass. We have enough really bad stuff on him that we don't need to invent things.
Jonah on NRO has picked this up also...

Yaz, was a class act, period.
According to his stats (linked above) he ended his playing career after he played for the Angels in '61 and '62. There may be some confusion of names here?
And he was a pretty damn good third base coach, at that.
And I'm hijacking this thread to say, "speaking of that era, Don Zimmer still sucks and can blow me."

ATTENTION SPORTS FANS [Jonah Goldberg]
Here's a fun item from Peter Gammons at ESPN:
We have been led to cynically believe that many politicians are disingenuous and generally phony, but few will ever beat Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. This man, who changed his middle initial to be JFK and at an anti-Vietnam rally threw someone else's medals into the water, made a self-promotion appearance with Boston talk-show maven Eddie Andelman and claimed he was a big Red Sox fan from his days growing up in Groton, Mass. And at the promotion he said Eddie Yost was his favorite player. The problem with that is just the simple fact that Eddie Yost never played for the Red Sox.
Me: I am no baseball junky, as everyone here knows. But I do like politics. And while I can understand why I wouldn't know that Eddie Yost never played for the Red Sox, I am baffled how a politician from Mass. could make a mistake like that.
If it was a Republican, they would accuse him of being out of touch.
