Did they report him for his heart condition, or his drinking habits?
Now if it's the heart condition - that's one thing.
If he's being reported because he MAY drink six beers in the future, and drive....well then, they better report everyone in the State. Who is to know what people MAY do in the future, despite their admitted patterns of the past.

There may be more to this story than is written. If he has a CDL (commercial drivers license) he is required to have a medical examiners certificate that verifies he won't have a heart attack or siezure while driving a 90,000 lb. tractor trailer. If he has a heart condition that is uncontrolled and is a heavy drinker, then they are following the law by reporting. If it's just a class c (ordinary) drivers license then this is a bit ridiculous.

Seems to me the Federal medical privacy laws would trump this state law. Wonder what a lawyer'd say about that.

Doctors are leaving Pa at a record number because of malpractice suits. Add this to the mix, and patients will either not go to doctors, or not give truthful info.

Hmmm... So is this disclosure requirement a PA thing, or is it nationwide? Can some schmoe with a stethoscope suddenly decide that my smoking a pack a day makes me a risk on the roads?

It's gotten to the point in this country where you can't even trust doctors anymore.
My last trip (for a sprained ankle), the Stasi nurse was using some psychological tricks to get me to say that I injured my ankle during a fight, instead of falling down some stairs.
