Aw crap! Anybody got an old bike I can have? Seriously, WTF? How big is this guy? How many hours does it take to consume 6 beers? Why is this a problem if you are in your home and NOT driving? Now I need a beer! Arraghhhh!!!!

Asked if he considered his client to be alcoholic, Horace Ehrgood, Emerich's attorney, said: "It depends on what your definition is."

Classic lawyer line . . . sounds like . . .

Nissley said she could not discuss the details of Emerich's case because of
confidentiality requirements that also protect the doctor from being identified.

I wonder if Emerich is under such a constraint.
It would be interesting if he kept quiet until his license restored...
then went public with the name of the doctor who squealed on him.

Oh, so THAT'S why my doctor has been so concerned about my substance abuse. Wahhhh! And I thought he cared about me!

Of course if he'd told the doctor he had a fudge pack a day he would have been protected from the consequences.

What if I tell my physician I talk on a cell phone, drink coffee, and listen to loud rock music? and I sleep, too!

I had my license pulled for 5 months because of a disease of the inner ear. I live in PA. It was the right thing to do. If my disease has consequences, so does his.

Someone tell this moron to grow up.

I once worked with a middle-aged guy who confided that he drank a quart of rum per day. He died relatively young, but I never saw him impaired.

THAT is what I call legitimate grounds for a LAWSUIT!

The doctors need to have their certificates revoked

Time for one of my favorite little jokes:

The only way a case of beer could impair my driving was if you stacked up the cans up on the windshield in front of me.

The law requires revocation of the license until the driver can prove he is competent to drive.

Sure Mr. Law-dog. Hop right there in the passenger seat, and let's take a spin around I-285.

Or, how about you hop on the back of my 250, and let's take a spin around the powerline.

If Mr. law-dog begs to be let out or off before I'm finished displaying my driving compentency, does that make me "competent to drive"? How about a 25 year safe driving record?

No, it's all about money.

a six-pack? just half an imperial gallon.

Are these people aware what the RDA of beer for medieval monks or 17th century schoolboys was?

n 1871, a year after it opened, the beer allowance for residents in the London Metropolitan and City Police Orphanage was discontinued on the grounds that several orphans were total abstainers. This controversial decision was reversed in 1880.

A six-pack is on the excessive side, but you'd never be anywhere close to drunk unless you squeezed them into a short evening. For a doctor to do this without warning to a patient is nearly beyond belief.
