Kerry Edwards: I was offered $150K for my Web site
cnn.com ^ | July 11, 2004 | Carol Lin

KerryEdwards.com is getting a lot of attention, but you won't find any pictures of the Democratic presidential candidate and his running mate.

The online address belongs to Kerry Edwards, a bail bondsman from Indianapolis, Indiana. He joined CNN's Carol Lin to discuss the coincidence and the Web site.

(snip)

LIN: Now, you voted for President Clinton. Why not help out the party again?

EDWARDS: How do you mean?

LIN: Sell it to the Kerry people for whatever they're willing to pay for it.

EDWARDS: For whatever they're willing to pay for it?

LIN: Yeah.

EDWARDS: I don't think they're willing to pay what it's actually worth, and I'm not in the financial position to just give away money. So if they were willing to pay what the Web site's worth, that's great, I'll give it to them.

That poor professor missed out by not registering the domain name for himself. $150,000 big ones.

Cheap bastids.

The Pubbies should start a bidding war. And if they win it, they should post anti-Kerry information on it.

If the Kerry/Edwards ticket doesn't win in November, you gotta wonder if any of those people will want to change their names. Also, any family with the surname of "Edwards" will opt out of naming any of their children "Kerry".

My thougths exactly! I would love to see our side get control of this site and run with it.

If I was a GOP bigwig, I'd offer $200K right now.

It can't be the Republican Party who buys it, so I was thinking maybe Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter could do it.

If I was a GOP bigwig, I'd offer $200K right now.

And if you win it, try to flip it to Team Kerry for $300K. 50% is not a bad return.

I'm not sure if any presidential front runner, even one named Fonda, would pick a running mate who's last name is "Boy". :-)

This fellow has a very limited window of opportunity. He should sell it to them for a good fee with the proviso that after the election he gets it back for free, unless of course they win and then I guess they would want to keep it.

Wonder when this guy is going to get threats, or an IRS audit, or a surprise visit from the Queer Eye squad...

Based on the article, this guy is a bail bondsman, so he probably knows how to play the game to his advantage.

Why not help out the party again?

What she meant was, "Why not help OUR party out again?"

Lin suggested that he "Sell it to the Kerry people for whatever they're willing to pay for it." It sounds like she wanted him to accept the lowest price. In other words, she was definitely suggesting that he take one for the team.
