The attack on Sabir Karim occurred Tuesday, said Seif Abdel Rahman, a ministry official. Karim is the second auditor in Iraq's fledgling interim government to be targeted for assassination.
Iraqis Insurgents Slay Mosul Governor
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents on Wednesday assassinated the governor of the northern city of Mosul as his convoy was traveled to Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official said.
Attackers approached the convoy of Gov. Youssef Kashmola about 60 miles south of Mosul, an Iraqi Interior Ministry official said on condition of anonymity.
It was not immediately clear how Kashmola was killed.
