Backup electrical systems failed to kick in
A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained six days later.
Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

Welcome to the FreeRepublic, and specifically, TM XIII. Now that your "out" there is no need to lurk.

As a precaution, the bomb squad was called out. The suitcase was removed. It turned out to be a hoax.A hoax? Or is this related to the empty suitcases that were all discovered within a short period of time in Manhattan a few weeks back. Probing, perhaps.

ACTION ALERT: The Council on Foreign Relations is hosting a task force on Iran that calls for the US to engage Iran - which is Washington speak for 'make a deal'. Your voice is needed to demonstrate just how dangerous this is for America and for Iran. Please send a fax or email to the Council (in English if possible) letting them know that to "engage Iran" will mean complicity in the torture, repression and murder of an entire people -- while also allowing Iran to shelter al Qaeda terrorists and extremists bent on using nuclear weapons against America.
Contact the Council on Foreign Relations at either their NY or DC offices:

No, there was nothing hanging off the plane. The black thing was fully attached to the belly.

This is what, the 4th or 5th incident in the last few weeks involving fumes, vapors, smells, whatever, inside that cabin of a commercial airplane. Seems to me that the easieist way for the enemy to take over an airplane is to incapacitate the other passengers without incapacitating themselves. Another practice run?

internet-haganah.usIt really stinks to be in the position I found myself this morning. The dilemma is whether to post a
public warning or to just move intel through offical channels. I had the following exchange with someone I will describe as a member of the intelligence community, broadly defined. His concerns, my response, and his conclusion sum up the issues I have to deal with...
His concerns:
Law enforcement would usually sit and be quiet, wait and observe and when the time was right make the sting. In posting what you know and learned, it is telling them that you are onto their method of communication and their messenger, which can make them change tactics and or change messengers. Would it not be more proper to quietly send this to the authorities and let them handle it accordingly? Interpol and Homeland security would be my two primary contacts with information such as this. I am not coming down on you for posting because it is news but it is also lives. The way to catch the bad guy is not to scare them off but to learn and then hit when the time is right and you have enough intel - never give up your intel and let them know what you know. The first thing you are taught about working in the field is never let anyone know what you are thinking. You are right on with "know your enemy" but giving them your intel might not be the best thing to do.
You should consider making law enforcement aware first, even maybe going as far as contacting the US Emb. in Italy where it would be passed to a case officer there. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and I have your site as my home page so dont think I am questioning you but consider what I am saying here. I know a thing or two about law enforcement and the intelligence community, you can be assured that the agency watches your site and I would be willing to put money on it that this post you made had some people scrambling this morning. I am sure your contacts can confirm what I am saying here. What you and your associates have come up with just might be very credible and maybe rattled cages in the terrorist community but is it right to post it to the world? I would rather catch these guys than send them further underground. Curious - how long did you sit and consider posting this information?
My response:
I understand and appreciate your concerns, but after the collective failure to heed warnings prior to the Madrid bombing we feel like we need to light a fire under the rear ends of a number of people so that the ball doesn't get dropped like that again. It's a bad decision to have to make (to make some part of what we know public or not to make it public), but having seen the "go quietly through channels" approach fail, I figured I'd give this approach a shot.
His conclusion:
Well I promise you are rattling cages and you might possibly get the attention you are asking for. When it comes to the intelligence community, it only takes one idiot with an ego to say "this is a bunch of crap" and that is where it ends. I would make noise everywhere - like I said Interpol, US agencies everywhere, ect. you will touch the right nerve eventually and they will listen.
It should be clear from the above that I'm not immune to reason and have certainly considered both my options and the consequences of various actions. The comment- "When it comes to the intelligence community, it only takes one idiot with an ego to say "this is a bunch of crap" and that is where it ends"- is the key to understanding my concerns. When that happens, people die.
IMHO there was not nearly enough discussion in the community of the failure to detect and adequately warn Spain of the attack that occurred on 11 March 2004. Part of what I have done by posting some of what has us concerned is put a certain political pressure behind the intel, in the hope that if this alleged threat is dismissed as non-credible, it will at least have been duly considered.
I understand that my approach is unorthodox and in some circles unappreciated in the extreme, but after 11 March 2004, not to mention 11 September 2001, I don't think I'm going very far out on a limb in suggesting that there is a need for change. For me, having never been inside the box, it's easy to think outside of it.

The Canadian commission that approves applications for television access yesterday OK'd Arab news network Al-Jazeera to broadcast on the nation's satellite system.(SNIP)
Yet Fox Network is not allowed to play north of the border. Oh the irony.
