CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Democratic congressional hopeful Beth Troutman has landed solid support from her old colleagues on the "The West Wing."
Martin Sheen, who plays the fictional President Josiah Bartlet on the NBC show, is among several cast members who have contributed to Troutman's campaign to oust incumbent U.S. Rep. Robin Hayes, a Republican.
Troutman worked on "The West Wing" for four years, most recently as manager of the director-executive producer's office.
Other "West Wing" members contributing to Troutman's campaign include series creator Aaron Sorkin, executive producer John Wells and his wife, Marilyn, actor Bradley Whitford and actress Allison Janney.
Troutman, 27, has raised more than $47,750 from California - nearly 70 percent of the $69,495 she reports raising since she filed two months ago.
Hayes has more than $1.2 million on hand for the fall campaign, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission last week.
Troutman has a snowball's chance.
The Democrats would love to have a strong candidate for the House in Sheen's hometown of Dayton, Ohio...
PING!
What a great campaign commercial for Hayes.
Well let Martin go home and run then. Perhaps he will find out just how things really are when your are a real politician and not a make believe one on TV.
Robin Hayes is a solid conservative and member of the House Armed Services Committee who had his district gerrymandered during the last cycle to be a demoratic seat. Despite the gerrymandering, Robin won handily in the '02 Republican sweep. Robin continues to be targeted by the left because he is a consistent advocate of both a strong defense and American values.
Scary thing is. . .if Sheen DID run he'd draw a lot of demonut votes because they simply can't draw a line between what is real and what is fantasy. Really.
I hope she gets trounced so badly that she will not consider running for elective office again in NC. Make her mooooooooooooooooove on!
Huber, I am curious. Is she a NC native? If not, then why did she come to Charlotte to live and run for office? Is she another John Edwards, using us as a stepping stone to go to Congress?
I absolutely agree with you there. The left wing fantasy lovers would vote for this guy no matter what.
But it sure would be fun to watch him twist in the wind if he actually held public office. Or maybe thats wishful thinking.
Don't know. Haven't done my homework on her yet. Been too focused on keeping RINOs from winning primaries! (We have a little problem with that here in NC.)
Gee I wish Marty Sheen run for his state hometown
Reason is OMG can you imagine Apocalyse now resets LOL!

About Beth
Serving your community, standing up for your principles and believing government should work for the benefit of all are some of the fundamental ideals Beth Troutman learned early and that have guided her life.
Beth was born and raised in Concord and educated in North Carolina public schools. Beths dad, Wayne, is a successful small businessman and U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Beths mom, Nancy, returned to work at South Trust Bank after raising Beth and her two brothers.
Her parents played a crucial role in demonstrating for Beth that dreams are limited only by your willingness to work hard, set high standards, take responsibility, and never give up.
Beth first visited Washington as a third grade student after she won the National Play It Safe Award for a radio commercial she wrote encouraging kids to wear seat belts.
As Miss National Pre-Teen, Beth served as the spokesperson for First Lady Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No To Drugs" program. While traveling the country encouraging young people to say no to drugs, Beth remained active in the Cabarrus County D.A.R.E. program, working with local law enforcement officials to identify and support young role models in the county. Beth was also an active member of the youth group at First Baptist Church in Concord and the Boys and Girls Club.
After graduating from Concord High School, Beth attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, paying her way with scholarships and part-time jobs waiting tables and working at a clothing store.
Fascinated by the Constitution and the inner workings of government, Beth majored in political science at Chapel Hill, and spent her senior year working as the special assistant to Jim Black, the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives.
During her four years of study at UNC, Beth grew more disturbed by the portrayal of violence, sex, gender and race in popular culture. Determined to get involved in trying to change the images we see on TV and in the movies, Beth moved to Los Angeles.
Arriving with $4.00 in her pocket and no job leads, she got a job on the TV show The West Wing through pure determination and persistence. She landed a position as a production assistant and ended her fourth season on the show as manager of the director/executive producer's office.
During four years of splitting her time between Los Angeles and her home in North Carolina, Beth saw first-hand how her friends and neighbors here were losing hope for the future and faith in their leaders. Choosing again to get involved, Beth is running for Congress to achieve real change, to end unfair trade deals and unbalanced economic policies, to finally give our schools the support they deserve, and to turn around a health care system more focused on profits than patients.
Lying scumbag. Yep, she's a Democrat alrighty.
Thank you, Lancey, so much for that information! Revealing!
$4.00 bucks in her pocket [and thousands in the bank and daddy's phone number]. . .
