Members of the citizens group Prathikarana Vedi assembled before the Kerala assembly saying that Bush calling his cat India was an insult to the country.
"This is a disgrace to our great country and this has come from none other than US President George W. Bush. This is nothing but an insult to India because there are hundreds of thousands of Indians in US, and many who occupy key posts in the White House," said M.A. Latheef, president of the group.
"He should make amends," Latheef added.
The members of the group walked to the front gate of the assembly building but were stopped by police. After a brief speech and some slogans, the members burnt an effigy of the US president.
"Thanks for visiting the John John tree, planted here by your local Democrapathy Association.
"John Edwards and John Kerry, congenital Democrapathetics, poster boys of the Democrapathy Association, and after whom the tree was named, ask you to contribute to FR, in the hope that a cure to Democrapathy can be found before the 2004 election.
"Be sure your dog knows he is welcome to transact bio-business around this tree."

Now,if the President paraded the kitty around the White House with a turban on its head,then maybe they would have a reason to get their panties in a bunch,but give me a break.Must have been a slow news day in India!

These are just phonetics and personal names, not language or insults. In Kerala people have way too much time on their hands indeed. They are socialists and most are proud of knowing how to read... but apparently they are not litterate about Bush or anything, they only know how to process information, not actualy knowing it.

UPDATE: The White House has announced that, in response to the concerns of Indians around the world, the Bush family has changed the name of their new cat from "India" to "DotHead."
You'd think after several years they would cease fixating on a cat. Maybe they had to use old protest signs and slogans because they are poor and can't afford a new idea.
They're just ticked off because India's job as White House mouser hasn't been outsourced to the real India.
I didn't know they had a cat. What a pretty kitty! I guess it was a slow day in India.

Tell me exactly WHY it is an "insult" to name your cat "India"? I just don't get it. I had a friend in college who had a black cat named "Stymie" after the character in "Our Gang". Now that I could POSSIBLY see offending people.
If you can find a way of bottling cow flatulence, name it Hillary.
