The roar from SpaceShipOne as it blasted into the history books last month, along with the media frenzy that surrounded the first private suborbital spacecraft launch, has long since dissipated; but a ripple of hope about the future of public space travel remains

Bump!
Gee, maybe the lefties could all go live together out in space. And have their private shuttle to have the house servents send up Penta water. There's a thought.
Liberals don't get to take space. That's for dreamers with enough common sense to make things work. Engineers and scientists and people willing to work hard and not be stupid.
Vacuum's rather unforgiving of idiocy and doesn't believe in 'fair' or any other touchy-feely nonsense.
I didn't think they could get along with so little room and no media, but I thought it might give us a breather for a moment. It's not like they don't have the money.
The Wright Flyer didn't carry passengers but further developments meant that by the time the 1909 Flyer was airborne a whole world of change had occured.
It took 30 years for the DC-3 to fly but our technological abilities today will telescope the development time.
That is true, people expect things to happen instantly, it is not going to happen overnight, it is going to take time.
They don't have the right stuff. Space should by all rights be our way out of the mess the socialists have made of this planet.
Risk is anathema to liberals. Risk is the only way to achieve great dreams. There is a cost, there is always a risk, it is worth it for great risk brings great rewards. Liberals will never undertand that. They would squander resources and persue an impossible idealistic utopia on Earth dooming us all to extinction.
Let them flounder, the rest of us.... Ad Astra (to the stars)
As others have said, the lefties aren't the ones that go into space. Think of them as the settlers, while the rest of us are pioneers. The lefties want to sit around and bitch about this or that, or study what effects it would have, or talk about how difficult something is, while the rest of us are looking over the next horizon and wondering what's there and how we can get there.
The history of the world shows the liberals aren't the ones with the guts to get out and explore - they sit back and complain how dangerous it is and what effect it would have on children, etc.
